I wasn't aware that that happened. Interesting.flight50 wrote: 18 Jul 2025 05:28 ^Recovery trucks............Hmmmm. I wonder it that is why they made a wrecker, had it in traffic in one beta update and then yanked it and said it was a mistake. We never seen it again. We have the T800 utility truck look alike with the boom arm. But they removed the T800 wrecker. I wonder if that is coincidence with what you are saying about wreckers.

Or, that might be the part of SCS's licensing deal. To have some brand to have an "advantage". Maybe one brand wants to have it, while other brand don't mind to come second. That stuff is all negotiable. Or there might be some money deals. We'll never know the specifics, must likely.flight50 wrote: 18 Jul 2025 01:24 If SCS is partnering up, they don't want to give someone the edge. That could jeopardize the relationships.
So I would not expect all brands to come at the same time just because it's some sort of "natural way of doing things" or something. It's likely, but it's not the only possibility; it's reasonable to expect, but the opposite is equally reasonable.

It wasn't exactly a T800 though. It resembled it. But why keep the utility truck in the game but not the wrecker. It's the same truck just different body.HayesPacific wrote: 18 Jul 2025 05:39 That'd definitely be interesting if they returned to wreckers; I wasn't aware they were ever talked about by SCS before.
About the Kenworth T800 wrecker – since it was an unlicensed Kenworth product, maybe Kenworth had something against them using the likeness of one of their trucks as an unbadged AI vehicle, and that's why they opted to remove it from the game? Just theorising here.

If RVs ever come to ATS in the distant future, I hope they can add the Ford and Chevrolet/GMC cutaways for the Class C RVs. Those, especially the Ford Econolines which is Ford's oldest running model, are actually lowkey icons here in the US.
Ford models come standard with the Gasoline 7.3L 445cui V8 and Chevrolet/GMC models come with 6.6L Gasoline V8s.

The wrecker wasn't cut for no reason; SiSL requested that the wrecker and hi-rail variants of the unlicensed T-800 lookalike were pulled from the traffic rotation because they were not designed to spawn all the time. The hi-rail model was specifically designed for rail maintenance and no asset of this exists anywhere in ATS, prop or vehicle. There were other variants but those aren't used anymore. Why the digger derrick model is only used is beyond me.... I even suggested new variants, outlined on the wishlist thread.
All of this was in the 1.43 beta back in 2021 and was cut shortly after.

Oh right! I wasn't fully aware a variant of the T800 was still used. I never encountered it much anyway, so I wasn't sure whether it was fully removed or not.flight50 wrote: 18 Jul 2025 11:47 It wasn't exactly a T800 though. It resembled it. Yeah, that is true then. If any variant of it still remains used in the game in any capacity, I also don't see why it should only be that one and no others.
Unless the models of the other variants have errors/inaccuracies which SCS don't currently wish to focus on fixing, I suppose.

I could see it going either way. It may also depend on if the larger framework (features, infrastructure, all the under the hood stuff etc.) of Road Trip is ready to be released and one of the brands has their lineup of cars completed by the modeling team. I can see 1.56 or 1.57 potentially bringing compatibility for this mode like some others have speculated.San_Sany4 wrote: 18 Jul 2025 09:36 Or, that might be the part of SCS's licensing deal. If SCS wants to get PRT out this year, they could push one brand out (with 4 or 5 or so cars) to start much like how ATS started with only PACCAR back in 2016. I know this discussion of which will happen first is kind of redundant but it did bring up a good question in my head that I had to ask.

Yeah, true. Also, your phrasing in the first sentence (in the brackets) did actually remind me – I'd be really interested to read a Road Trip: Under the Hood blogpost one day, possibly after it releases, talking about what adjustments they make to the vehicle physics and going over all the things that will've been necessary to actually implement cars into the game.
Same goes for the Coaches DLC too, whenever that rolls around.
