The first working weapon!

#1 Post by Adyusha » 19 Feb 2025 09:17

I was able to add a completely new weapon model and make the animations work. HU Corner has already made weapons and created a PowerPack. For the most part, these are copies of the original trunks and their retextures.
I also saw his experiments: he added the CheyTac M200 model, but it was a static object, i.e. no animation of movement, shot, reload, nothing ...
As a result, this opens up opportunities for creating mods not only for weapons, but also for equipment, vehicles, animals, hunters.

I plan to create a series of lessons so that everyone can create a weapon mod, but the publications will be on the website. gamebanana.com
You can also download the new M24 rifle.

Man id love to see the tutorial for this. Wonder if the same can be done for creating entirely new species.
I don't usually try modding games but when I do, it ain't pretty.

Hi guys, the post about the "new weapon" has gained a record number of views for the entire existence of this board (maybe I'm wrong). I am very pleased to realize that a huge number of fans of the series play and search for information on modifications. This is actually very amazing. There are a lot of us! I have not disappeared anywhere and periodically read the forum.
I remember that I promised to write a guide on creating weapons, but I ran into some "philosophical questions". YES, the weapon works, YES, it has animation, a unique model and textures. BUT, the animations are a retargeting of the standard animations of the existing weapon and the most improved render (ARB2) does not work correctly. It turns out that these modifications cannot be called a FULL-FLEDGED NEW WEAPON. Is it possible to publish a guide in this case?
In the near future, I can finish the guide and post it as is. Just give me some feedback, I really need this discussion to be more lively, because it opens up new horizons (new hunters, new animals, new gear) and there are really a lot of us (more than 250 thousand views in less than a year). Write messages, ask questions, suggest ideas. Together we will make the game better. Thank you!

P.S. If someone reads and does not understand what I am talking about, then I will explain - at the moment there are two new guns that you can download, install and test in the game right now.

Benelli M4 - https://gamebanana.com/mods/576659
They are posted on the gamebanana website absolutely free of charge, I do not ask for money or help, (but I would be pleased if you left a comment there)

I saw the CheyTac M200 experiment too—having it as a static object was limiting, but now with animated models, the possibilities expand dramatically. This opens doors not just for weapons, but also for modding equipment, vehicles, animals, and even hunters themselves, creating far more immersive gameplay experiences.

This is really impressive and I definitely mirror your sentiment about getting the community back together... I have been messing with modding this game off and on for the past few years - mostly focused on nodding animals, maps, and UI elements. I have had an idea for sometime of an unofficial remastered edition of HU2010 that would feature new weapons, new species, possibly new locations etc.

If there's anyone else out there I would be keen to join a discord channel or something if there is one for modding this game. Otherwise I will continue to post to this forum.

I have been most burnt out trying to work with the models for the animals in this game, I'm not sure how the weapon models work differently but if you have any insight or methods to getting the meshes imported I would love to know.

Seeing how much traction this post has gained definitely inspires me to work on some new animal species again... I had made a lot but they are on a hard drive somewhere: polar bears, arctic wolves, dall sheep, sitka deer, coues deer, coyote, javelina. If I could make changes to models I had plans to do muskox, caribou, lynx, bobcats, etc. but I could never get the models to import back into the game successfully.
