In an unrelated subject of the current topics in this thread concerning ATS/ETS2 nonsense, there is kind of a pressing issue now: what are we going to do about losing Windows 10 in just over two weeks from now?
Upgrade?

So all the maps and trucks released in those years are not real content?
I wrote about free content, and yes I forgot about trucks, but even those are never really finished. There are a lot of modifications on Steam, for example, a real dashboard (I mean the information displayed on it), for each truck, I recently had to install one in my FH6 and 389, trailer packages never add all the trailer models that the company offers and then SCS adds them in the update and presents it as new content. If they had added all the trailers in the DLC packages right away, they wouldn't have to waste precious time adding trailers as part of the update, which would have long been part of the trailer package, and then there are trailers that several players have wanted for a long time, such as the legendary tipper trailer from Schwarzmuller, which we will probably never get, I would really like to know the reason why it is so difficult to obtain a license for one trailer. By the way, bon appetit, everyone, for the popcorn.
ETS2/ATS player since 2016

ETS2: 2 161 356 km (1 343 004 mi)
ATS: 1 000 065 mi (1 609 448 km)

Forcing people to go to Windows 11 whenever their current machine is working just fine with Windows 10 is preposterous if you ask me. Windows 10 is a perfectly good OS. To me this is nothing more than a $$$-grab and nothing more.
Whoa hold on a sec. What losing? Are they taking away the 10 from anyone? What forcing? I cannot upgrade because I didn't switch something in bios settings so I'm not compatible, nobody is going to do that for me remotely so I'm stuck with 10 because nobody is going to magically turn it off. What cashgrab? Upgrade is free.

For now.

To keep Win10 with no more security updates is dangerous.
To just ask people to get a new computer because their current one isn’t supported by Win11 is absurd as many of them are not very old and lots of people cannot afford getting new hardware. There is lots of debating going on as dumping all that hardware is going to create a huge pile of unnecessary electronic scrap.

Linux can be tried without installing by booting it from a stick (“live system”), and it can be installed in parallel to try it out further. The truck sims run fine under Linux.

If you live inside European Economic Area (EEA), you can get free security updates for another year https://www.heise.de/en/news/Microsoft- ... 72891.html
I will participate in this program, but also do a parallel Linux install.
It is not known what will happen after that extra year is over, or if you can participate from outside the EEA by using VPN and/or changing your region. But you can still pay for updates by joining the ESU program. Some see that as a cash grab, to some it is a necessary evil.

To me windows 11 is better than 10. Over 2 years on 11 never had any issues while on 10 I had quite some issues.
Also in terms of UI, windows 10 looks like it has been made in paint. W11 have so much better UI. Start menu at center it actualy quite nice. Dont need to drag my mouse across whole room to just do something quickly.

Intel gen 8 was released in fall 2017 which is the oldest intel gen that's supports windows 11. So that's 8 years ago. That's would be an old pc.

It's crazy how people seem to be so afraid of having no more updates on Win10 like it means it will stop working. It won't.
I'm on Win 11 for quite some time now and I don't regret any of the past ones. And surely not Win 8 which was the worst for me xD

And despite that my 3-4 year old intel did not support Win11. (And has since been replaced.)
