And despite that my 3-4 year old intel did not support Win11. (And has since been replaced.)
Why buying older gen cpus when you can buy newer one?

I didn't. I bought it new 3-4 years ago. And when Win11 cam out, I was informed my PC was not compatible.
My point is that brand new CPU's built less than 8 years ago were not compatible with Win11, so stating that if someone has a non compatible machine it must be old is not true.
(And my CPU was either an i7 or an i9)

*Apparently 5 years ago.

The chip was an i7 10700k and while it may have been compatible with the earlier versions of Win 11, its not compatible with the current ones.

So it does, but Win 11 refused to install on it as it claimed it wasn't supported.

But did you check why? In many cases it's a matter of entering bios settings and changing something there.

The game works great on Linux. Just saying.

Curiously, the Windows build of the game runs even better through Proton in DirectX 11 mode than a native Linux build in OpenGL.

Their requirements are entirely fictional. I installed the beta on a 13yr old laptop running a i3 4th gen and it ran just fine, in fact it ran better than both win7 and 10.

Even now I can use that laptop, you just have to disable win11's fake requirement checks for updating. It is perfectly functional on old hardware, Microsoft are just trying to force people to spend money and upgrade for some random reason.
