@wannabe
As far as i know, Steam Tinker Launch can only fork one custom command. So if you use it to run TruckersMP, you can't start Trucksbook with it.

As an alternative to Trucksbook, there are 2 other VTC-Managment/Logbook tools available which i've successfully tested in Linux:
  • Trucky - version 3 of Trucky has now a native Linux client as an Appimage which can be used with ETS2 in Proton
  • VTLog which can be easily installed in Proton prefix with protontricks-launch

Appreciate the reply.
Will check those and keep looking for an alternative to run it.

I was thinking maybe I can have a .bat file that opens Trucksbook and then TruckersMP, I will try that.

Edit:
- Tried the .bat solution
- First I used your guide to place trucksbook in the right places, added the dll to bin/x64
- Created the bat opening both trucksbook and truckersmp.
- Added the correct url address of ets2 into trucksbook settings
- Run ets2 from Truckers MP
- Trucksbook is open and say ETS2 is running

Seems perfect, but is not logging the jobs so far.

Well, there is another approach with truckersmp-cli. As this Python script is somehow bypassing Steam Runtime, you can start Trucksbook before executing TruckersMP by a script:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash
export STEAM_COMPAT_CLIENT_INSTALL_PATH="/home/username/.local/share/truckersmp-cli/Proton/proton"
STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH="/home/username/.local/share/truckersmp-cli/Euro Truck Simulator 2/prefix/" "/home/username/.local/share/truckersmp-cli/Proton/proton" runinprefix "/home/username/.local/share/truckersmp-cli/Euro Truck Simulator 2/prefix/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/TrucksBook Client/TB Client.exe"

After Trucksbook is up and running, you can start truckersmp-cli by creating a bash alias in terminal:

Code: Select all

alias ets2mp='STEAM_COMPAT_CLIENT_INSTALL_PATH="/home/username/.local/share/truckersmp-cli/Proton/proton" truckersmp-cli --rendering-backend dx11 --proton --game-options="-nointro -unlimitedlog -mm_max_resource_size 100 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000 -mm_pool_size 16384" start ets2mp'

Hi, can you please help me figure out how to get the TrucksBook app to work properly?

So, I installed and tried to use it in a different way, by using utility called Umu launcher.
But I encountered the problem that after launching the TB Client (which worked fine through the UMU launcher), the game does not start. Steam shows that it is already running, but the game does not appear.

So I was looking for another way and found this thread. I installed Steam Tinker Launch (from AUR) and did everything as @skyking_eam mentioned in his posts. Except installing TB Client, I didn't need it because I already had it installed in prefix. So, after that I tried to launch a game. The TB Client started (but I increased the command wait time to 15 seconds) and after that the game also appeared.
But there's one problem: the TB Client started, but it shows almost nothing, and when I tried to interact with it, the system showed me that this program is not responding. I tried several times, changed the proton (9.0.4 and Experimental), but it always starts in a crash state.

Eventually, I found another way. I launched the TB client with the UMU launcher and then use Steam Tinker Launch. You can say, I combined these two. Steam Tinker tried to launch TB when it already launched with Umu, so it shows me message that the app already running. The game started also, the window appeared and TB client see that ETS2 is running. I have already tested it and everything works fine, I have logs on the TrucksBook site.

But it seems over-complicated. I'd better make it either by UMU launcher (or proton) or by Steam Tinker Launch. I mean, using only one tool.
Thank you.

P.S. Sorry for my mistakes, English is not my first language.

You can try to create a new prefix for the game. Maybe there is an incompatible Windows dependency installed in your current prefix like .NET / Visual C++ or something which cause the client to crash.

I'm looking for a version of Trucksbook that works with ets2 version 1.27. Does anyone have it (though I'm not sure because it's a long time ago)? Trucksbook doesn't allow downloading older versions. Is it possible to go back?
