So, HORI initially asked on details of the problem so they can think of repair options, but when I described it, they disappeared forever. I still wonder if someone had a success story buying spare parts from them. Apparently, their suggested solution is to just buy a new set.

I ended up buying cheap used pedals on ebay (surprisingly, you can find some items there). The purchased item was itself damaged (the cord), so I decided on taking only top casing from it and use the rest parts from my setup (apart from that I was worried that pedals won't work well with another wheel, yet I haven't checked that). So I reassembled it and it worked fine for months...

...until I broke it the same way again (well, I guess, I'm dumb!). I tried to disassemble it (again, to clean/lube) and slightly pushed a pedal while the bottom lid was unscrewed... (CRACK!)

I managed to find some replacement on ebay again. This time it was from Farming Vehicle Control System (and it was sold with wheel). The pedal set is quite different (the pedal pads are different and springs for accelerator pedal is more tough), but the casing is exactly the same. So I suppose this can also be used as a source for spare parts.

While I was doing assembly stuff and my old pedal set was laying on the floor opened, another latch cracked and was shot by the spring across the room (turns out laying upwards down for some time is enough to crack it). Thankfully, it didn't shoot me in my eye.

So, some tips for those who consider disassembling the pedal block:
- consider not doing this
- if you do, avoid any pressure on pedals when bottom lid is removed
- consider unlatching springs as soon as bottom lid is removed (prepare a plier in advance)
- if you broke one or two latches, you still have a chance assembling the block, but you'll need some dexterity to align the bottom lid to hold the springs, hold it tightly and screwing it back at the same time
- consider wearing protective glasses (seriously, shooting latches are scary)

Good news is it probably won't break if you never disassemble it (two spare pedal sets' I've got from ebay did not have this kind of damage) and definitely won't shoot you with a piece of plastic.

And I'm still quite surprised with this kind of... structural engineering.

My Hori is being delivered this afternoon. I'm a bit worried/nervous about installing it and setting it up, I'm not great with technology...

It's replacing a Logitech DF GT, so I guess i may not notice the performance/quality issues that other people are complaining of...

It comes with free ETS2 & ATS software. I already have these, can i give them to someone else?

Well I've had my Hori for a couple of days now and I'm severely sleep deprived. I've been playing until 1am each night.

This has greatly restored my enthusiasm for Truck sims. The challenge of driving a 13 or 14 spd manual in traffic is huge!

One problem so far, I'm driving the Scania with 12+2 and i cannot get the top two gears. I've tried again and again with the wizard and manual settings, but every time i select 6L or 6H, I get neutral. Oddly, I can get 3L and 3H no worries; they use the same shift position, only difference is the position of the range button.

I've had my Hori for 12 days now and I'm loving it, but i can't figure out how to adjust the steering. Default is 1800 degrees, but I'd like to change it to 1440 degrees. I've downloaded the app, but it's very hard to use/follow.

Welcome to a whole new world.
Before the app reacts to you turning the wheel or pressing the pedals, adjust one of the sliders to one side and then back again in the app.
That works everytime for me.
You should then be able to adjust the degrees under wheel settings.

Honestly I straight up soldered a usb wire to the pcb and it works
Pain in the butt to disasemble the whole thing, stripped a few screws while doing so
Disasembling the shifter knob is really bad but managed to get everything together in the end
only problem i still have is some sort of software issue, when I tab out of any game the shifter starts acting up pressing the light button repedeatly and shifting into random gears

So, my accelerator pedal started making creaking sound and I decided to lube it.

Disassembling pedal unit was quite straightforward (there are nine screws and three of them are hidden under rubber pads).

Well, after removing bottom lid I saw plastic pieces falling out and that's when I felt something is not right.

After looking a bit more, I've discovered the following picture: link

I could believe my eyes: they use plastic latches to hold quite heavy pedal springs. And two of them (one at brake pedal and one at clutch) were broken. I've heard a lot about this wheel being "made of plastic" and always thought "so what". Well, NOW I see "what".

I've started thinking how I just wasted a good wheel, meanwhile asking HORI over e-mail about possibility of replacement of the pedal unit (paid ofc, since I've disassembled it myself), but then I finally figured out how to assemble the pedal block without these latches: bottom part has another plastic structure supporting this springs, you just need to point the tip of the springs to the right place and then push the bottom lid: with enough sleight and a bit of force (there is a risk to break the thing even further) you'll be able to shut this lid and screw it back together. It was quite challenging with two broken latches and I can hardly imagine if it's possible with more. Don't forget to put thew wire into the slot correctly while doing all that.

Regarding the lubing, surprisingly accelerator pedal was the only one which was not lubed. So, I applied a bit of GPL 205 grease (if you wonder, if spraying silicone inside without disassembling would work, it didn't for me, even with disassembling) and applied assembling magic I've figured out before. Now the unit is fully functional (with both spring working for both "broken" pedals). These pedals have a bit of slack if you push them to the right (the side of broken latches), but during regular usage they are quite sturdy and I'd say they work "as before".

Not sure if broken latches are results of my actions or they broke during regular usage. The idea to disassemble the unit was quite bold, but I was acting carefully, not sure which of my actions could break the latches (maybe I pushed a pedals while the unit were flipped and it was too much for latches without the support of the "plastic structure I've mentioned above).

Regardless, IMO it's quite a bat idea to use plastic latches which supposed to hold quite high pressure. For those who are annoyed by creaking or those who want to disassemble the unit for any other reason, please think once more: is it THAT bad (now I'd think I'd rather suffer creaking than suffering this "repair" experience). If you still want to do that, please note my experience (and perhaps share yours afterwards),

BTW, disassembling Logitech G923 pedal unit was much more pleasant experience and the structure seemed much more reliable: look at this video and compare with HORI structure from the picture above.

Is it worth fixing or should I try and get a replacement from Hori directly´?

What was the result? My pedals are working now, but I have a slight suspicion that I might need a non-warranty replacement for pedals after some time (let's hope I won't).
