Re: SCS General Nonsense Thread
SCS is probably the only dev I know of that is so open with giving players access to a beta version of every patch, it's quite special.
I don't see any problem with not being able to try out Coaches or RT in a beta beforehand though. After all, being able to test a DLC before you buy it must be quite rare.

I totally agree that that would be remarkable indeed.
Thats why I asked, in my personal opinion an Beta would be in place. As one of the most important things of a Beta is to get performance insight and user feedback. As with a regular DLC thats not that exciting anymore, these two seems to have a much larger impact and bringing something unknown to the game.
But a Beta for a DLC, yes that would be a first in gaming I think. Maybe early access in Steam? Like the Australian trucking game?
Time will tell and SCS most likely thought about it beforehand.

Re: SCS General Nonsense Thread
I mean, both projects will start quite small (Road Trip is pointing out to only have 2 brands at launch) and won't have that many new features to use, which they are constantly testing as they develop them, the map updates have been coming in basically every update since the projects got announced, and if they make some videos/blog about how the gameplay will work, i think internal testers will have enough info to know what to look for, so waiting until release to let the rest of us test it doesn't seem to be that crazy.

Apparently, you're not very familiar with it. The Bus by TML also runs an open beta test for every patch.Tristman wrote: 03 Jun 2026 07:21 SCS is probably the only dev I know of that is so open with giving players access to a beta version of every patch, it's quite special.

Saber would take a word. In SnowRunner and RoadCraft, you can participate in beta testing on Public Test Server for all the updates, including upcoming paid DLCs. And you don't have to own a year pass or pre-order that DLC. You get to play that DLC for free. Only for duration of beta, of course.

Since there's an option on Steam to get access to beta versions of games, I guess it might be not so rare xD

Re: SCS General Nonsense Thread
How would anyone be able to release anything if closed beta wouldn't be enough?
Granted a lot of game developers offer open betas or closed betas based on invites, free weekend or early access
But a lot of other companies in the IT industry releases new products or new versions without open beta projects
Granted it do require a bit more the software companies who chooses this patch
