Concept Proposal: Euro Truck Simulator × Train Sim World Logistics Collaboratio

#1 Post by collabsugester » 03 Jun 2026 16:08

Hello SCS Team,

I hope you’re all doing well. I’m reaching out because I’ve been thinking about an idea that could genuinely excite both the ETS2 community and the wider simulation world. I’m a long‑time fan of Euro Truck Simulator, and I’ve always admired how deeply you simulate the logistics and transport ecosystem.

Recently, I realised something: ETS2 already models the “road” side of European logistics incredibly well — and Train Sim World models the “rail” side with the same level of passion and realism. These two worlds naturally connect in real life, and I believe there’s a huge opportunity to explore that connection in-game.

The Concept: A Shared Logistics Collaboration
ETS2 handles last‑mile delivery, while Train Sim World handles long‑distance freight.

This could work through:

Shared cargo types

Shared companies

Shared depots and ports

you could drive trains in multiplayer mode with trucks also.

A unified “handover” system where freight arrives by train and is picked up by truck (or vice versa)

Why This Makes Sense
Both games already share many real-world locations (Hamburg, Rotterdam, Calais, Felixstowe, London)

Both communities overlap heavily

Both studios focus on realism, immersion, and authentic transport simulation

It would create a unique, industry‑first crossover that players would absolutely love

What It Could Look Like
ETS2 trucks with rail‑company liveries

TSW trains with ETS2 companies or real life companies

A shared “Logistics DLC” where players experience the full journey of freight

Optional integration — players can enjoy it even if they only own one game

Why I’m Sending This
I’m not asking for anything complicated or unrealistic just opening the door to a conversation between two studios who already excel at what they do. Even a small crossover would be a huge moment for the simulation community.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. ETS2 has been a massive part of my gaming life, and I’d love to see what could happen if the road and rail worlds finally connected.

Both are individual games, created individually in completely different engines, by developers who also have different mindsets about certain things and want and need to acquire licenses of brands on their own. So if Dovetail has a license for a brand, they cannot simply give it to SCS and viceversa.

They do not share the same locations either. In the towns you got correct that exist in both games, the depots/stations are on completely different locations. I wouldn't know of a single exact location within a city which is shared common in both.

Also in regard to taking over freight and companies, why would TSW overtake the fictional brands from ETS? I know very well that the community of TSW is pretty strict about realistic brands. And something like that would make a lot of TSW players upset neither do I think it makes sense in some way to do so.

Last but not least, how would you think a connection/continuation of a job would work? Both games would need to be setup for that - to be in accordance with each other - and from a technical point of view, it's nearly impossible to do so. TSW runs Unreal Engine 4, ETS/ATS runs in Prism3D. I see no way how this could work.

In the end, they are even competitors in the simulation market, even though not sharing the same subgenre.

From a player who also played both ETS and TSW, I can understand the wish to create crossover gameplay, but in reality and from a business perspective this cooperation neither makes no sense nor is really doable. Both better focus on improving their games in their own individual way. And from a very personal opinion of mine, it's very good that both are completely independent games by completely different developers with completely different heads.

If SCS would just take over any of DTG's business practices, we probably would never get any kind of free updates anymore.

In short, SCS should stay as far away from Dovetail Games as possible.
