Is there a way to disable kickdown?
I play using a controller, and every time I press the accelerator just a little too hard, the gearbox shifts down (real automatic)

Re: Disable kickdown
I think it's called "Smart throttle control" in the gameplay settings.

Re: Disable kickdown
If I remember correctly, kickdown is disabled if the adaptive automatic transmission is set to off. Kickdown is useful, but it's very hard to control when the controller triggers have only about 1 cm of travel. Even after years of playing with the controller, I still have problems with it and I try to be gentle with the throttle. It would be good to have the option of double-pressing the throttle to engage it. Of course, a wheel and pedals would solve that issue, but not everyone has the space for them.kerschi93 wrote: 10 May 2026 09:54 Is there a way to disable kickdown?

Yeah. Kickdown is nice, but not how it works now. Like you say, double pressing or something like that would be great

Re: Disable kickdown
unfortunately other than disabling adaptive automatic transmission the only way is to tweak the rpm thresholds in the engines .sii file. i use these values and kickdown is tolerable
Code: Select all
rpm_range_low_gear: (1300, 1400)
rpm_range_high_gear: (1200, 1300)
rpm_range_power: (1600, 1730)
rpm_range_engine_brake: (1600, 1900)
physics.scs --> set "bristle_stiffness_longitudinal_factor: 5.0" to fix de/acceleration
