Disable kickdown

#1 Post by kerschi93 » 10 May 2026 09:54

Is there a way to disable kickdown?

I play using a controller, and every time I press the accelerator just a little too hard, the gearbox shifts down (real automatic)

I think it's called "Smart throttle control" in the gameplay settings.

If I remember correctly, kickdown is disabled if the adaptive automatic transmission is set to off. Kickdown is useful, but it's very hard to control when the controller triggers have only about 1 cm of travel. Even after years of playing with the controller, I still have problems with it and I try to be gentle with the throttle. It would be good to have the option of double-pressing the throttle to engage it. Of course, a wheel and pedals would solve that issue, but not everyone has the space for them.

Yeah. Kickdown is nice, but not how it works now. Like you say, double pressing or something like that would be great

unfortunately other than disabling adaptive automatic transmission the only way is to tweak the rpm thresholds in the engines .sii file. i use these values and kickdown is tolerable

Code: Select all

	rpm_range_low_gear: (1300, 1400)
	rpm_range_high_gear: (1200, 1300)
	rpm_range_power: (1600, 1730)
	rpm_range_engine_brake: (1600, 1900)
physics.scs --> set "bristle_stiffness_longitudinal_factor: 5.0" to fix de/acceleration
