Re: The Dakotas (North and South) Discussion Thread
Reading thru the blog again...
"One of the new highlights you'll encounter are the trailer manufacturing plants located in Watertown and Mitchell. These large industrial facilities specialize in producing a variety of trailers, with completed units ready to be delivered to dealerships and customers across the map. You'll also be bringing in the materials and components needed to keep the production lines moving, making these factories a busy part of South Dakota's freight network"
I wonder if this is more misleading verbiage. Dealerships is plural. That means these would have to be active depots. Depending on the type of trailer would determine the dealership. Are we getting new dealerships to distribute trailers? Is it to 18 Wheels Garage? Do utility trailers go to Field Force/Groundbreaker? Are they sending these to Wanderlust? Maybe even Farmers Barn gets in on the action with utility trailers. I'd definitely like to see a variety of trailers made at Hobson. Container trailers can finally get stacked and sent to railyard and shipping ports. Looks like A-train dollys are made at Hobson. Is this cargo loaded onto a lowboy/flatbed. It would give some flexibility for multi drop for sure. Those truck axles look like higher quality as in cargo itself. I don't notice simplified geometry for them. Hobson could do a lot of things imho. So this is a good add for sure. A handful of these sprinkled around the map could work out quite well.
Construction
Plaster & Sons - 76 depots
Taylor - 54
Agriculture/Food Distribution
Global Mills - 37
Flavorfair - 36

Construction wise, SD is disappointing on the brands. Its definitely time for new options for these two industries. I'm not sure why there has been reluctancy on getting more options in ATS as of late. I'm not sure if Custom depots is to blame. They are a great addition and are game changers, but are they costing us more branding options? If they aren't making things regional, then sprinkle in more options thru the regions with a few more brands.
Food production. Only Global Mills is labeled as distribution per wiki.gg. No other options and there should be several. It would be cool to see more middle men depots for Agriculture. There's just to many branches for Agriculture that can bring umpteen cargoes for this industry. I'd like to see more exploited for Agriculture to be honest. We got two big needs with Iowa in McCane and Field Force to help boost farming. Now can we get more Agriculture products. I'm still looking for a complex farm depot that can finally deliver this: viewtopic.php?p=1728040#p1728040. We are getting a few other complex depots. Why not flesh out farms? Isn't custom the meal ticket for more complexity? This is when farming can realllly take off for ATS. We're simply restricted too much. Taking a page out of Farming Simulator in this regard can really push Agriculture. The Farming Equipment dlc along with licenced trailer for farming can bring more value and more sales for those two dlcs if we have more cargo available for Ag in general. Between SD and ND, it feels like these two states are great reasons to push Ag to the next step.

I do like what u mention there flight
I hope they do the same for Indiana DLC also
For some I hope we can haul some smaller
Flatbed trailer for the regular vechicle u know
Most of them would be cargo loads as well
Looking forward too see it in the SD DLC

Talking about industries, and new types of cargos to haul, in this video a truck driver deliveries bees from California to North Dakota. The video is in portuguese, but you can select auto-dubbed to english. He crossed the Yellowstone Route, then arrived in ND and delivered in the middle of nowhere, I hope we do get this when ND starts to show up in the future.

Letβs hope they add this industry
I keep my expectations low when it comes to agriculture.

Demo version of South Dakota DLC will be shown on Gamescom 2026 in Germany! This means, that should release in Mid September!

That doesn't mean anything. It being playable at Gamescom doesn't mean it will be released in September.

Likely won't be released before mid-September, anyways.
