Thank you for the pictures I guess I was wrong. I must say I thought it made sense to do it I just have never seen it.

If you think that's strange, there are also variants where the rear-most wheels turn left/right too!

Did'nt Volvo or Scania do a test with trucks that could go completely sideways? I seem to remember that shown just a few years ago.

And if you try the tandem mod you can get a steering axel in the back just as someone mentions.

The axel configurations seem to be abit different depending on countries, not only loads/weight, some setups are named after a country because they started there and are really popular there.

In the US pretty much every truck has a 6x4-4 configuration. In europe 6x2 and 6x4-2 is most common, with 2 steerable axels. Most of the time one is lifted to save the tire since truck tires cost as much as a small car.. haha almost.. Bet you can buy an Ambasador for the money you'd pay for a set of tires if not two..

Basically the 6x2 with rear axle turning turns in the opposite direction, and the 6x2 with middle axle steering turns in the same direction.
