It would be cool to give fog a tweak, when the sun is out it looks a bit like a bush fire..

Not trying to be pedantic but the moon doesnt look quite right, i think maybe the shadow is on the wrong side.

The shadowside of the moon can be on either side, as the mooncycle is basically a circle. Depending it is towards full moon or after full moon the shadowside is left or right.

If I look at this screenshot I cannot tell where the sun has set, but if I have to choose I would say somewhere on the right: the blue parts of the sky is most bright somewhere right of the center of the screenshot. The orange parts of the clouds also tells me that the sun could have set somewhere right of the center. But it's not easy to tell. If I would have to make a choice I would put the shadow of the moon on the left side of the moon in the picture. But maybe the side of the moon we can see should be entirely in the shadows, as the sun could have set somewhere where that tower / skyscraper / tall building is (on the horizon in the distance, right of the center).

But there is another thing that is not quite correct: the shape of the moon. It now looks like an ellipse, while it should look like a circle.

Yes but we are talking about the pic, the Sun appears to be setting to the right so the shadow should be cast to the left.

No, it should not. Thats not how the mooncycle works.

No matter where you are or where the sun sets, during one cycle (a month roughly) the moon will always be fully lit, fully dark, lit from the right and lit from the left once.

This all is based on the shadow of the earth on the moon. It's not about the sun's shadow on earth, which we see in the picture.
