It is based on the 21st of June, so it is realistic.Uxot wrote:Um i found it very unrealistic when i was up north and that i was looking at time and it said 2:40 AM and the sunrise was there....wtf?

Re: Sun is from North [NOT A BUG]
Day length should be the same at the same quadrant. Local time might be slightly different, though.
Re: Sun is from North [NOT A BUG]
How come the date "21st of June"?
We have working harvesters, fully growth sunflowers and haystacks. At the end of June? Is that legit?

I always assumed early august or something
The season is from mid july to mid august depending on when the crop is sowned (winter or spring)

Midsummer, A.K.A, summer solstice.

Haystacks happen several times during the late spring, summer to early fall btw. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and possibly 4th and 5th cuts of hay.

Re: Sun is from North [NOT A BUG]
The sun position in game is now calculated depending on your position on a map and the day of the year which can be set in a config. But the calculation also requires the year for which to calculate the position. And since the update I was wandering which year the SCS actually uses, because it can't be set anywhere. Is it 2015?
Re: Sun is from North [NOT A BUG]
What difference does a year make?
I am serious here. Let's not go into the finer details of whether the sun rises 20 minutes sooner or later in your neck of the woods in the year 2035...

Re: Sun is from North [NOT A BUG]
as sun position is computed in not-that-exact floats, common error can be up to cca 1%. so it doesn't matter if you miss few decades ..
if it helps, this is used for base values:
not to mention that this is deviation you simply cannot see ..
if it helps, this is used for base values:
Code: Select all
const float y = 2.0f*Pi / 365.0f * (day_in_year - 81.0f); //year relative position, 0 = spring equinox
const float declination = v_deg_to_rad(23.45f) * v_sin(y); //declination, basic sun plane angle (radian)
const float etc = 9.87f * sin(2*y) - 7.53f * cos(y) - 1.5f * sin(y); //empiric time correction of eliptic orbit (minutes)
Nobody can tell you anything about it. Those who know about it aren't allowed to talk. And those who talk know nothing.

Re: Sun is from North [NOT A BUG]
Well, I don't know the theory that good, but I know that the full date is used in calculation, hence the question. I just thought it means much as it's a relatively big amount of time.
Thanks for the clarification, Max.
