Thrustmaster Ferrari Challenge Wheel Info?

#1 Post by JackYoung » 03 Oct 2015 06:14

Hello, I just bought the Thrustmaster Ferrari Challenge Wheel from amazon for a very good price, and this will be the first time I will use a steering wheel controller. Does anyone have the same model, and if so, do you have any tips for it? Also, how do you set it up to work with ETS2? It will arrive in a few days, and I would just like some info. Thank you!

I have another brand but once it's connected to the computer, any software it needs is installed, and it is detected (go to USB Game Controller Settings in Control panel) and check under properties to make sure it works. Thrustmaster may also have some software to install. Then in ETS 2 got to options -> controlls and check Keyboard + your wheelname. Then you can adjust the sensitivity, etc. as needed. I set mine for 900 degree rotation so if your wheel supports that set it for that.

It's a whole new, wonderful experience driving with a wheel.

I thought it was something like that, and I will do this. I will adjust all the preferences to my liking, do you suggest manual or auto with a wheel? I don't think mine supports that, it is a cheaper one and just for a first time sort of thing, if it is a good experience I will get a G27 in the future.
It sounds very good, and I will not play ETS2 until I get the wheel. It will seem like a lot, but it will be great when I finally get the wheel!

Not sure what you mean by manual or auto unless its the transmission. I use sequential and use the left paddle on my wheel to downshift and the right to upshift. You can use any button that's easy to get to but my wheel has paddles since driving a truck without shifting just doesn't seem right <G>. I just got a shifter but haven't installed it and when I do I'll set it up for the type of shifting my truck really uses (Scania Streamline R730). I have a Fanatec wheel, pedals, and SQ shifter but I was fortunate that at the time I could do it. I had a G27 for a while and it worked well.

Whatever you have will work and let you have fun. Before I got my wheel I used a CH Products Eclipse Flight yoke. Some people can drive with a keyboard but I can't!

Have fun trucking. It's a great game and sim.

It sure is. I never did any driving sims before being a Flight Sim guy (ex-pilot) but I saw a friend using it on Steam and he recommended it. I got it and have been hooked ever since.

I just found it while browsing the web for new games to play, and I'm happy I picked this one.

You can also set the degree of rotation in the Windows Control Panel under Game Controller Settings. However, you may or may not like 900º. I don't, because I need neck surgery and it hurts to do all that wheel crankin'), and use 360º instead. But then again, that's why it's adjustable... Not everyone likes the same thing.
