[REL] ProMods v2.68

Forum rules
SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.
Posting in the Mods forum (ATS and ETS2) is restricted to sharing free-to-the-public mods and providing support for mods. For more details, please check the Forum Rules.

But they weren't asking for support, they were reporting a bug? We have given them no support as there is no support to give. The rule specifically specifies 'technical support'. So I ask again, What specifically counts as 'technical support'?

Are you literally out of your mind?!

Regardless of names, mods, groups etc. there are tons of examples among topics in the "Maps" subsection which direct their users to external links one way or another. And you know what? These links are only from the first page of the "Maps" subsection! So, I bet there are tons of more examples in the following pages.

What I am basically trying you say is that you ( @Madkine ) are imposing a so-called "rule" only in one specific topic while you are not doing the same thing for others as well. This is anywhere near equity and absolutely biased. If vice versa were the case -where this topic is exempted from such an action whilst all others had gotten affected- , it would still be inequitable and biased. Hence, this is a terrible decision and ergo, terrible moderation.

@Madkine I would be more than glad if you proved your unbiasedness and literally practiced equity. But I highly doubt it.

Simply put, having bug reports strewn across a big topic like this is impractical. It would be easy for a bug to be reported and simply missed if it is not investigated straight away. Bugs aren't investigated until a tester has time to look at it and it's much easier to look through separate topics on the ProMods forum and move these topics to different areas if and when the bugs are fixed or found to not be a ProMods bug. If the rules at the moment are that bugs must be reported and investigated here then fair enough but perhaps the rule should be rethought.

And if that is the rule, then it would probably be a good idea to have it specified in viewtopic.php?t=300666

Yeah, but the difference is that all those mods you named actually also offer support here on the SCS forums. So in fact people can ask for support on multiple forums: the SCS forum and the forum of the specific mod. While it now seems that ProMods will only give support in one location, which is not the SCS forum.

But regarding ProMods support: what about if one of the ProMods members regularely checks this SCS forum if people have reported a bug, and then this ProMods member forward this bug to the ProMods bugtracker?

Correction: I already pointed out that I don't target any other mod. My intention is only to give an example.

It's way too much easier to gather multiple reports about the exact same bug under a single topic than having to deal with multiple messages about the exact same bug in another forum. N.B. - there are many people who forget to even share in-game coordinates when reporting a bug.

Here's a few examples of members of the PM team providing support in this topic:
viewtopic.php?p=1781230#p1781230
viewtopic.php?p=1764305#p1764305
viewtopic.php?p=1763444#p1763444
viewtopic.php?p=1728836#p1728836
viewtopic.php?p=1729007#p1729007

To be clear, I am not suggesting that the issue here is with support. The issue that I'm arguing is that 'someone making a bug report' =/= 'us giving support to someone'

We will happily provide technical support here but bug reports should really be defined separately. Checking here would be a compromise for the sake of a compromise when it really doesn't matter. Anyone who has the mod already is registered on the forum so it's not like we're forcing people to register to report bugs. We just have a system and having an exception to the system doesn't make much sense

For the bug issue specifically, if someone reports it here, how hard is it for one of your testers etc to then transcribe it to your central repository? (you know like SCS does).

In relation to the rule overall I haven't seen anyone recently in any other thread direct someone to an external site for support/bug reporting. I also haven't reviewed the 1st post of every mod.
