Re: Engine sound mega pack 3.9 date 2022/01/09
@sunake Maybe you need to install 3.8 and let the game autosave before moving to 3.9. I'm not sure if Kriechbaum left the upload for 3.8 available, however. Have you tried testing 3.9 on a new profile/save to see if the issue is save-related?
Edit:
Disregard, just realized I was on the previous page and didn't see the latest replies.

Nope. Only the 3.9 mega pack addedTrucker_71 wrote: ↑12 Jan 2022 18:57 @sunake This new profile added, did you activate any mods besides the engine pack?
Re: Engine sound mega pack 3.9 date 2022/01/09
So essentially you're saying that the game engine can't handle more than a certain amount of samples being played at once? That would make sense with how the audio cuts out intermittently, and it only happens when other people are in the convoy versus an empty convoy session. A couple of things I'm wondering now; Should the issue persist if we're all using the same engine? Or will it only go away if we all use engines with less samples? A couple of people in the convoy don't experience the issue at all, and I'm wondering if it's because of their choice of engine in their own truck or if it's simply something to do with their PC's sound card or audio drivers.kriechbaum wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022 04:36 Hi and thank you.
@jarryed
This problem depends of multiple things.
First how the convoy sound mod is done.
Much it's detailed with multiples sounds samples more it can makes this kind of issues.
The solution is to remove some sounds files from the mod but we will drastically lose in accuracy and pleasure with sounds.
There's more reasons I guess:
-The computer you have and how it handles the game.
-The amount of players using the same sounds at the same time.
-The sound mod you choosed.
Some of mine have less sounds samples, some others more...
The C15 has been recorded with full of details and samples, it's may be the reason.
Try with an other sound in convoy and let me know.
Assuming this isn't a hardware or driver limitation, should we be reporting this to SCS to see if they can maybe remove the limitation in the game engine?

@sunake
Really dumb question, are you sure you activated it?
Did you use the filter in the top right corner of the engine menu to choose your engine?

@sunake
Check if you accidentally compressed MegaPack_sound_Kriechbaum_3.9.scs when adding your truck definitions.
Sound banks cannot be compressed.

Have you added your other trucks to the MegaPack?sunake wrote: ↑11 Jan 2022 20:40 ... With 3.9 though, all trucks that I have added to the mega pack show up but the engines make no sound. If i revert to 3.7 then the sounds work again. Anybody have any idea what would cause this? It's not just with Kriech's sounds, another modder that makes sounds I also have this same issue with.

If you're packing an archive with sound banks you have to choose "Store" as to not compress them, it won't work if they are compressed.
Re: Engine sound mega pack 3.9 date 2022/01/09
Ah yes that was the issue @Digital X @MirM I usually use 7zip to extract the .scs file, add the trucks and then with 7zip choose "add to xxxx.zip" and then rename the zip file to .scs (I dont know why I thought this was how I always did it). Instead what I had to do was open the .scs file as archive with 7zip and drop the truck folders in there. Thanks a lot for the help guys!

why do you extract it at all?, drag any truck folder out of it, do the renaming and drop it back in, no extraction needed same with the renaming to .scs

@Drift_91 Yes some people have that issue when there's many players. This update is new and we need more time to understand the real factor that causes the problem.
Hardware seems to have its importance.
As i said some sounds mods have a lot of samples, some others less.
With time we will more know what's the real reason of this.

the best mod just keeps getting better thank you kapitan!
i do have a minor critique/issue with the new cummins isx straight piped sound - the turbo "blow off" sound (not sure if that's what you call it in the game, that's how i know it in the world of cars) has a short little high pitched artifact at the tail end of the sample, it's not TOO bad listening with speakers but when i use my studio headphones the sound is a lot more apparent. it can be heard in the youtube video as well.
anyway, thanks again, i truly would never play ATS again if your sounds disappeared!
