Engine brake toggle removed [NOT A BUG]

#1 Post by natvander » 15 Mar 2016 00:16

The engine brake on/off function has reverted back to an older version where the driver was required to hold down the button for the engine brake to function. Either a toggle function needs to be returned, or the current function (on while button held down) should be replaced with the toggle function.

Games Changes notes at Steam Forums said something about the engine brake now is able to be used in conjunction with the Smart Cruise Control when no retarder is present.
Perhaps the toggle function has been removed to allow that to happen?

That does mean it's still broken when you don't have cruise control activated.

The button toogle seems to be replaced by 2 buttons "Engine Brake incrase" and "Engine Brake decrase", it just activate with the incrase button and deactivate with the decrase one.

Oh. Ok.
I don't use the engine brake.
For some inexplicable reason, the exhaust/engine brake refuses to be operated from the mouse-wheel (which is how I use the retarder).
All I did was replace the retarder.ogg with an engine brake sound. Shrug. Solved.

I do not have as many buttons on the joystick.
Maybe it is possible to restore the previous version (with one button on / off ) by editing the controls.sii ?

it has been returned in last beta update.
Nobody can tell you anything about it. Those who know about it aren't allowed to talk. And those who talk know nothing.
