Your average fuel economy in ATS.

#1 Post by Blackspots » 06 Jun 2016 16:47

With Aradeth's Volvo VNL670 with the D16G750 Euro 5, 18 speed Allison w/2.85 rear and 315/80 tires. I got 7.2MPG from Amarillo, TX to Halifax, Nova Scotia, going on average 75MPH. On flat surfaces, the instant economy showed 9-11MPG.

I try to drive for fuel economy. (Realistic fuel economy is enabled)

I'm on roughly 0.5MPG using my Kenworth W900 with a CAT C15 ~600HP, 18 speed gearbox :-).

How do you only get 0.5MPG? Are you always in first gear?

Depending on the truck:
-Plastic Pete (579): sleepercab, 500hp engine, Allison 6speed auto: 6-7 MPG
-T800: daycab/short chasis, 625hp engine, Allison 6speed auto: 5-6.5 MPG
-T800: medium sleeper/medium chasis, 625hp engine, 18speed gearbox w/o retarder: 6.5-8.5 MPG
The smallest details always make the biggest difference.

I'm usually lower than 5mpg, but mostly faster than 75mph. Truck: Kenworth 880 (alpha) based on 680, large sleeper, DD16 engine w/ 625hp but chipped for >3500 lbft.

KW W900 Studio Sleeper
ISX 15 600 hp

65k mi accumulated total fuel efficiency: 9.2 mpg

Depending on load and route, sometimes it's 11 mpg, sometimes 8, typical speed is around 50 mph, revs between 1000 and 1200 where lower revs mean losing too much speed.
Oh, and I don't use cruise control. It's LESS efficient than my foot.
I may reset the statistics sometime because of the new torque driven engine data, I guess they change figures too much to continue with my old data.

I like the heavy/wide cargo, so my truck is usually struggling to move .

On my Kenworth T680 with a Paccar MX (485hp) mated to a RETROFITTED Allison TC10 (10-speed Automatic), I averaged 7.0 MPG for the past 19,500 miles hauling all kinds of loads.
