Hmm, interesting info. Indeed it doesn’t.
Btw. unless you assign the throttle to a button instead of an analog trigger, there should be no difference in consumption between a game pad and the pedals of a steering wheel.

To me it seems like it doesnt make any difference wich truck or engine I'm using.
I tried to compare some (tho not all) trucks to each other and made a few deliveries with different trucks and the differences can always be traced back to the weight of the load and the distance travelled (the longer the delivery the better the MPG due to less accelerating / braking). But other than that nothing seems to matter.

I have an average mpg of 5,7 mostly with the Mack Anthem 505 and 585 (Kriechbaum mod), mDrive 12-Speed and with an average distance of 708mi and avg. gross weight of 34,333t / 75.691,31 lbs. Got these values from a total of 90 jobs. Best MPG i got was 7,1 for a 442mi Houston - McAllen delivery with a gross weight of 22t / 48.501,7 lbs.
I did a few deliveries in other trucks for comparison but as mentioned the differences were tiny

Though that is with an 18.1 litre 2 stroke

i´ve changed my gearbox to the Eaton-Fuller 18-Speed with retarder and drove with a load of 43.500 lb from Amarillo (TX) to Sacramento (CA), this where 1.390 miles and i only got the mpg down from 5,3 to 5,4 but i´m still working on it.

so for now my truck specs are: Volvo VNL 730 with 6x4 chassis, 18-Speed Eaton Fuller transmission and a Cummins ISX15 with 500hp and 1.650lb-ft.

edit: my max speed was 65 mph while the engine was running around 1300rpm in the 18th gear.

That is good for a 2 stroke though.

Low RPM cruising doesn't always equal better fuel mileage. Better to cruise at 1400 to 1500 rpm.

That is good for a 2 stroke though.

Low RPM cruising doesn't always equal better fuel mileage. Better to cruise at 1400 to 1500 rpm.
I generally run her between 1000 and 1500 RPM, though when the hills come i drop a gear or 2 and take her to 2000rpm, (which sounds like 2,000,000 rpm!! lol) and generally keep her around 55 to 65

That is way too low for a 2 stroke. You wouldn't do that with one in real life, not without the bottom end coming apart. Anything less than 1700 rpm on a 2 stroke especially a Detroit is lugging. But this is a game after all.

well the auto shifting decides where the gears want to be. Though the 12v92 / 12v71 is what I use, power comes in at 2100 but the torque is at 1200rpm so rather than use the power, im trying to use the torque.

I didn't know the torque peaked that low on a 12v92. But even the Series 60 just because the torque peaks at 1200, they fall on their face when they get below 1400. 1200-1400 on a Series 60 it useless as EGT's climb high and you burn more fuel versus letting them spin.

I run a Series 60 in real life and I get worse fuel mileage progressive shifting versus taking it to 1800 rpm. Anything under 1400 and it falls on it's face, so I like to run it in pulls around 1600 rpm. I get better fuel mileage at higher rpms with it.

modern controls seem to want to keep the engines below 1500rpm. (the MX series in the DAF CF i drive for work is a case in point, in eco mode (the default mode) she seems gutless)

as for the 12v71 and 12v92, changes to the blowers to push more air in and changes to the injectors you could change the behaviour of the motor i suspect and would allow it to run at lower RPMs without harming it. What causes the issues whn it lugs down i think would be oil starvation, so change that to give better oil flow at low RPM and you would solve that issue i suspect.

i have seen various vids of people driving 2-stroke Detroits, some like to be gentle on them, other like to get them screaming like a banshee. but cruising on a flat interstate in the torque band i would have thought would be the sweet spot. then when the hills come, drop it down a full or half gear, to get the revs up and then keep it spinning.
