While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.

This mod is perfect!! I love old trucks. Only thing that would make it better is the old Cummins 275 Iron Lung sound that Kriechbaum had a while back.
Feel free to check my Youtube channel for smooth driving ATS/ETS2 gameplay videos. I'm now uploading in 60fps! At least one new video a week. Thank you! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnn13d ... AFk7FeUnRw

Im trying to find old Cummins engine mods but most of them are from like 1.39 or older/not working.

The bolt in windshield got superceded by gasketed windshields around 1952/1953, coincidentally around the time the 351 and the oval logo were introduced.

Congratulations, and outstandng work. Well worth the wait.

I've taken a couple of liberties in this recreation: the single axle model 280 is treated as just a chassis variation, and I've limited the transmission selection to those that will work well with the game's limitations (the model 350 primarily used compound transmissions which aren't properly supported in ATS).

Helpful Hints:
Pay careful attention when configuring the chassis, engine, and transmission. The standard chassis use double reduction rear axles (Rockwell SLDD) and so only slow ratios are available (4.68 to 5.90). This is best suited to the more 'vintage' engine selections (H and early NH engines) by trading off speed for more torque at the wheels. There are also chassis with Stabilaire suspension and SQHD rears (ratios 3.70 to 4.63) which pair well with more recent engines.

Also bear in mind that not all exhaust configurations will be available with all tank configurations. If you're not finding what you want, try a rear-mounted tank. ;)

It's a 1949 Peterbilt 350. I'll be tearing the cab apart later this week to fix... everything. I finally got some halfway-reliable reference material a month or so ago, and ...yeesh...

Either way, I'm really excited to get this project (and the FLB) moving again.

Once again, beautiful work,Smarty, and very much appreciated. I wanted to ask about the compound transmission statement above, and I left some other stuff quoted for context, to help others understand the what and why of it. As an older driver from real life, I know and love the old compound transmission setup, it's what I drove the vast majority of the time. When you say that ATS doesn't support them, do you mean that the "vanilla" game doesn't support them? While they are not in the vanilla game, there are transmission mods that create them. Is there something else that needs to be done to get them working correctly? If there is something else to be done, can it be done in a mod, and do you know what needs to be done? Or is it just not possible because of the base game? I'm looking at using PikPikker's Spicer compound transmission mod, found here: viewtopic.php?t=317302, and flybo463 came up with this: viewtopic.php?t=288627. As I gain more experience and knowledge of the game, getting those working for me are projects of mine, however, I'm just getting started, and learning to work with mods.

Again, thanks for another awesome mod that adds a lot to the game, what you do changes the game completely, and makes it so much more.

So, the game will support compound transmissions very well if you use any of the automatic transmission modes - you can easily put all of the ratios into transmission accessory data and the game will use them all (including ones you generally wouldn't touch in a normal shift sequence). Where it falls flat is H-shifter support and simulation. The game supports one shifter with up to 7 positions, and two toggle switches. So, technically, you could bind the auxiliary transmission into the toggle switches in splitter mode and use it kind of like a Spicer SST (couldn't actually do an SST though as it has a second lever for forward/reverse ...8 REVERSE GEARS!!!), but you lose the whole experience of doing a compound shift. More to that end, the game is only simulating one input shaft, so you never have the possibility of accidentally getting both boxes into neutral, nor is there a difference in inertia shifting the main vs the aux, nor is there any way for the game to treat one box as synchronized and the other not (iirc a good number of unit transmissions had synchros while their auxes didn't).

In a nutshell, you end up with either an automatic setup with redundant close ratios or an H-shifter experience that's even weirder than the real thing. I have had some good results with the Crackerbox though, simulating a 5 speed with a 2 speed rear axle. It's weird though, you basically split 1-3 using the axle, split the axle low with 4/5, and then split the axle high with 4/5. It's just too bad the game can't simulate how rough axle shifts can be though.. 1L - BANG - 1H - 2H - BANG - 2L - BANG - 2H...
