ATS/ETS2 Local Radio

Forum rules
SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.
Posting in the Mods forum (ATS and ETS2) is restricted to sharing free-to-the-public mods and providing support for mods. For more details, please check the Forum Rules.

Yes, but the big difference between this mod and that radio coming in 1.60 is that this mod aggregates radio streams from real life and plays them in your local area where you are driving. The 1.60 radio is most likely just a "radio" with licensed music meant to be played anywhere in-game.

^ Brendan hit the nail on the head.

This mod has a plugin that tracks where you are in the game and tunes the radio to play a station from that locale. The in-game radio likely won’t do that.

That's the impression I get as well. Marcus can tell you how much work it is to keep the list up to date - I doubt SCS wants to spend the time on that.

I am interested however what the widget will look like, because the current overlay feels a bit out of place with the new style they're going for, though I want to wait a bit to see how the new widgets will work.

You will need to run the app alongside the game for it to work, I have always started the Local Radio app before starting the game but doing it in this order may not be necessary.

If it makes things easier, you can always add the app to your Steam library as a non-Steam game or even create a small batch file to start the app, as well as any other companion programs, and the game under one shortcut (guides for both can be found using any search engine, are quick and don't require any coding experience nor additional programs)
I may not be very active as I am a truck driver in real life, so I'm away many weeks at a time !

Hello, thank you for this incredible tool.

I have a question about a possible functionnality: do you think it would be possible to add a filter by radio style ? Ex: play and show only rock, classic rock, folk, etc.... ? So when you change location it play directly a radio in the music style you want.
