I agree with this. Texas is a too massive roadblock and finishing the West Coast and Rocky Mountains would be a more rewarding project at the moment.

I genuinely believe they should delay working on Texas until most of that corner is done. Sure it would slow down progress to the East coast a little, but it would get the bigger bulky states out of the way. Then Texas up to the Dakotas moving Eastwards the states get smaller. Some could even come in one pack.

On the other hand, if the team currently working on NM moves to Texas once NM is released, we will find out how they plan to deal with DLC to DLC connections quicker since Texas will be the first state connecting to another paid DLC map.
Hey Moh1336, our first agreement, lol. This is exactly how I see it...I mean exactly. Finishing the West coast and the Mountain states is a must before moving on to Texas. Why, it squares off the map, routes really open up and direction of travel is much more diverse. Traveling the AZ,NM and Tx corridor will get lame pretty quick. If they go linear from Texas, that means they contradicted themselves. There is no North map team if all they do is go East. If they truly go East and North, then we will get (1) east state and (1) northern state at alternating state dlc releases or perhaps combined. Texas will take entirely tooo long to develop at this point and we will be right back at square one. Waiting 1-3 years to get one state. Now if they told us they are developing TX up to the Dakotas as one dlc, I wouldn't mind at all waiting 2-4 years if and only if all the Western states are given. The 7 states you list Moh1336 will provide 1/3 of the continental U.S. map. I don't think we can complain too much while they progress eastward. Let me take that back, lol. Of course we can complain, lol.

I agree with this as well, which is pretty well-reflected in my map on "The American Dream" thread (for those of you who don't know, I'm Trucksim_dude's alt who foolishly forgot the password to his old account). I really wish I could say more, but this is literally my exact line of thought. That makes three of us. ;)

Something I was just thinking on in regards to new list of states.....if ATS fails it won't be because of the lack of support or audience, it will be because SCS can't get additional dlc out to keep people interested. Yes they are adding additional staff, they rescaled, we got Heavy Haul and doubles but no new states still. There is no competition for these guys so they put out content when ever they are good and ready. Everything that has been given thus far are additional features and trailers that still use the same 3 states for more than a year. We keep making excuses for them.

It is now Sept, can you honestly tell me it should take 9 months to make 1 state? Prefabs and models of this and that which are composed of low poly, isn't that hard to do. I am a 2000 Art Institute grad from the Computer Animation program. We used 3d Studio Max, photo, Illustrator.....all these softwares are fairly easy to use. I keep hearing people say you make a map, you make a mod, you make a game. SCS does this for a living, I only did it as a student that didn't get paid for it. For a game like ATS, the detail doesn't have to be platinum level. It uses DX9 for crying out loud. Content needs to really get going or I see this project turning upside down. With the new office and new staff that SCS is putting together, I don't think they want to do a 180 turn around and have ATS go belly up. Imo, ATS is really turning out to be too big of a cookie that they bit into. SCS prove us wrong.

List of states is based on sales of DLC. If the next one doesn't sell then the development stops. If it sells well then they will continue with whatever state they are working on.

If they get 1/3 of USA lower 48 done odds is 90% the whole 48 and Canada will be built. People forget about ETS2 asset library Scandivania DLC just houses in Denmark look similar to ones seen in small town Washington state would not surprise me. People keep buying state DLC scs will keeping cranking out content.

@Delsrun I feel the same way about Wyoming. I would love to go on a straight I-80 haul from San Francisco to Cheyenne.
