Poll: Choose (3) States you would like to see next
Re: Poll: Choose (2) States you would like to see next
I'm sorry, but I can't see them taking so long that we'll go into 2030 with an incomplete lower 48, in every scenario I picture, we have Maine no later than 2029. Plus, it has been said by SCS, they want to increase their pace.
Take ETS2 for example, it's 10 years old and the continental Europe is almost finished with only Belarus/Ukraine, WB (Due to release next year), HoR (Due to release after {IF} everything settles down) and Northern Scandinavia missing (So technically, only two are still M.I.A). All the while, being almost as dense as the eastern part of the United States.
15 years for a complete lower 48 is just too much, wayyy too much. Especially when you consider Pavel's words when he said they have the same amount of mappers for each game (50/50).

I do agree, it might be a bit too optimistic, but i do see SCS finishing the lower 48 before 2030.
Re: Poll: Choose (2) States you would like to see next
Only time will tell but I'm not going to argue about state release speculation for a speculation thread.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

Re: Poll: Choose (2) States you would like to see next
In the, mostly single state map DLC prediction I did.
There Texas was for 2021.
Montana and Oklahoma was for 2022.
After that, it was 3 states/year.
Until bundling starts 2027, with TN and KY.
2028, 2 map bundles and one single state DLC.
2029, 1 single state DLC and Virginias + co bundle.
2030 PA and the areas east of it, in 2 bundles.
But this was the stairstepping prediction, eastbound, with 2 other teams doing north from it.

Like I said a few pages ago, Oklahoma's production time and final product should give us a rough estimate of how the eastern states will be like... Montana's team moved to OK right after MT was done so I assume they have progressed a reasonable amount. June is the most plausible release month with July being the latest.
And the Xmas stream shall give us an insight whether KS and NE will come as one or separate.

Re: Poll: Choose (2) States you would like to see next
Yeah the Xmas stream is what I am ready for. If Steam Wishlist is a bonus for SCS, I’d imagine they want to get things uploaded as soon as possible. States shouldn’t really be a secret any more. At least in ATS. There are only so many options based on the only direction there is to go.
If Kansas and Nebraska are up next, hint it, upload it and get more eyes on it asap. We got Oklahoma but waiting until Spring to get the others when clearly the map team is large now, only gives it less time to be acknowledged on Steam. Preliminary work should have been started as late as Texas going into closed testing. People could be hesitating on Texas due to price perhaps so post Texas, dlc prices decrease. Get them on the radar asap.
I’d be surprised if we don’t get at least least Kansas announced and phase 3 California announced. Heck we might even get teasers for those addition Texas areas that Simon mentioned on the Xmas stream. 2023, should have a lot of map progress going on. Unfortunately we will have to see a lot of ETS2 hate on the blogs because of all the smaller ATS teams working several maps simultaneously.

Re: Poll: Choose (2) States you would like to see next
They may as well go all out and reveal two completely different states (the two being Arkansas and Louisiana) than what we initially thought. I know, unlikely, but could happen.
Think about it, that way SCS would be expanding both eastbound and northbound, with Arkansas/Louisiana and Oklahoma coming in 2023 and MO/KS/IL coming in 2024.

55sixxx, my old prediction for the states after Oklahoma:
Kansas, Arkansas and Louisiana. Not necessarily in that order.
And the releases would not have needed to wait for any of the other map DLC's for that year.
These 3, were my predictions for 2023. Back in the last days of 2019.

Re: Poll: Choose (2) States you would like to see next
In October 2020, my prediction for 2023 was AR+LA and KS+NE, with OK having come in 2022. That was a bit off
In June 2021, my prediction for 2023 was OK + KS + LA, so a bit closer there.
Today, my prediction is OK + KS + NE but I'm not fully eliminating the possibility of OK + AR + LA. Yes Pavel said corn corn corn, we have files referencing KS and NE, and we have a new direction towards the Great Lakes, but Pavel has said a lot of things and filenames aren't always trustworthy. So I'll put KS + NE at 80% and AR + LA at 10%, with another 10% allocated to some unforeseen combination or only 1 state in the second half of 2023.
2027 is a pipe dream IMO, and 2028 is possible only if the team keeps increasing in size. I have serious doubts that will happen. Texas has failed to reach Montana's peak player count. I don't expect any single DLC from here on out to give us a boost on its own, with the exception of the one that includes New York City. In order for ATS to grow it will have to grow organically, and that means slowly. At most I expect the ATS team to remain the same size over the years, maybe getting ever so slightly bigger. But maybe SCS will continue to increase their investment in ATS. I don't know what their revenue or labor costs look like. They might be able to afford to continue growing, who knows. But bigger than the ETS2 team? That seems unsustainable in the long run at least.
2029-2031 seems like the sweet spot for an end date, but that assumes they don't venture into Canada or Mexico before then, it assumes that the map team stays around the 50 mark from now until then, and it assumes that SCS will give the east coast a proper density boost over the western part of the country. That's a lot of assumptions.

I had Oklahoma for 2022 too. With Montana.
Texas, I had for 2021, with Wyoming.
Half right on both.
