Poll: Choose (3) States you would like to see next
Re: Poll: Choose (2) States you would like to see next
That's a lot of DLC to come out in a 2 years. Oklahoma/Kansas/Nebraska then both the Dakotas. Each of these states would be stand alone DLC under current map sized DLC's of which we get 2 a year.
Oklahoma- 69,889
Kansas- 82,278
Nebraska 77,348 which all combine for 377,346 square miles.
South Dakota 77,116
North Dakota 70,705
Texas by comparison (which took 5-ish years) is 268,597 sq miles.
That's a lot of DLC in not a lot of time. Regardless of how many teams there are or how little folks feel needs to get mapped... the geography still needs to be laid out and painted. Even grass and fields take a time unless you want them to look fake.

Re: Poll: Choose (2) States you would like to see next
The key state in the equation for the next 2 years is Nebraska. Will we get it at the end of 2023 or will it be the first ATS map for 2024.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

@VTXcnME Event if they come out individually, we'd expect to see 4 of them in 2 years. The Dakato's being combined is not a huge stretch, though I'm not sure they will be combined.

Re: Poll: Choose (2) States you would like to see next
4 states should be the bare minimum in the next 2 years for sure. This year got us back to 2 per year. If Oklahoma comes by June of 2023, that team brings a Summer map for 2024 at the latest. The Kansas team should easily get Kansas out by October/November 2023 and that teams kicks out their next state by October/November 2024.
So that takes us to the other split from Texas going to Nebraska or to the rebuild team. It could go either way and we won't find out until next year. Maybe come Spring we'll know.

@CharlesVanNes This is a 'what state do you think is next', not a wishlist. Disconnected states like NY clearly won't be next.

Re: Poll: Choose (2) States you would like to see next
With Texas out and a larger team at disposal, I still feel it's unnecessary to separate KS and NE unless the focus is on the ongoing CA rework.
Moreover, the two states are very, very similar overall; not a lot of big cities, very few parks and national forests when compared to, say CO-WY or WY-MT. Kansas can be a standalone DLC, but I'm wondering how a much-alike Nebraska DLC will be made to stand out (Correct me if I'm wrong).
There's also this crazy idea: Combining NE with the Dakotas to make another Texas-sized DLC while the other team works on the southern states?

@Madkine 2 a year is what we're getting, agreed. I've suggested in other threads they might need to increase their number of map DLC's a year but that's been been poo-pooed every time for a litany of reasons. Chief amongst them, the added logistical costs of advertising/prepping DLC. I think some of those costs are built into each DLC release, but I'm just a country fool from a little corner of the world. With 4 different map teams (a couple of which were recently released from Texas) free to begin working on their next projects- there's gonna be a bunch of DLC coming done near similar times. I think SCS would be smart to move to a 3 a year DLC release if they have it ready. 4 a year might start getting crowded as far as hype/cruising events/etc.
But again, I'm just a simple fool in a little corner of the world.

Re: Poll: Choose (2) States you would like to see next
But what is really the benefit of 3 releases vs 2 releases per year, if we expect the same amount of map area to come within that year? I think it would be beneficial to SCS, because they can sell 3 DLC vs 2 slightly more expensive DLC, but how does it benefit us consumers? Just the waiting time for new DLC? Speaking for myself here, but I’d rather wait a few more months and pay a little less.
