If SCS really manage to build to teams, they can either work on two adjacent states launched together, or release then every six months.

First options is good because you can avoid some awkward shaped and connected states as I stated above: for example, get ready Oregon and Washington in one step and then avoid the problems with unballanced Idaho and poorly connected Montana in one step.

The second option is not that great, but at least we will suffer poor road connections only for six month instead of twelve.

The keyword is "if".

I don't like corridor shape at all, but if TX follows NM - let it be - better this than nothing..

The only choice for me after NM is Utah.
The more linear the whole map gets, the more we stuck on the same 2 or 3 interstates and the more we stuck driving east to west and west to east only. Utah (and then Colorado) would make the map rectangular which opens a lot of ways you can go. Would definitely keep it more interesting.
SCS needs a squared/ rectangular style map for more possibilities at the moment. Because let's face it. Right now we all drive some of the roads over and over and over again already (especially all interstates going into Arizona).

I can honestly say, because of the repetitiveness in routes, I have put all my time into playing ET2 since Feb until ATS gets at least NM. It will be sort of a new game for me with NM, doubles and heavy haul. Yes I understand ET2 is much older and therefore is bound to have more land mass to roam on. In due time, ATS will get to being 5 years old as well. Unfortunately, we can not fast forward. It will be interesting to see how ATS shapes up. I really hope that boxed style kicks in sooner than later. It is possible that SCS's thoughts are to do Texas after NM due to its size and what it brings to the table with 2 teams going at it. After Texas, team could split off and be assigned to separate states. I would be okay with this approach as well. But Utah is really as huge as Texas right now. Not land mass wise but how it opens up the corridors to other states. If Texas is indeed the next, I would have to think they would halt going East then and double back and start filling in the Western states. Would that then be the box style most are requesting, we don't know. But if SCS shared that little bit with us, it would be awesome. I don't think that would be spoiling anything what so ever with that type of info. In the past SCS has shared a little insight on direction, they can do it once more. Plans have changed I am sure.

Now that Mandelsoft has given us a little to go by on how SCS works via this thread viewtopic.php?p=807645#p807645 and viewtopic.php?p=807761#p807761, I have now come to terms with one getting 1 map per year. As hard as it is to digest, I am okay now. Knowing this, I do not expect 2-3 states per year at this time as I originally thought could be provided. It's still too much of a load on SCS to kick out multiple states per year with all the standards they have for their games.

I agree with RTobi on Utah. And then Colorado after that. Then we'll have a complete block of 6 states to travel thru and around, all connected with each other. But it all works only IF we can use all the major interstate highways, and major 2 lane highways that connect with them to shorten travel time for deliveries. A log book is a terrible thing to waste.

Again, I have to agree. Ideally, we would be able to join the I-80 and I-25 in Cheyenne with a Wyoming DLC, though Oregon is much more likely to be right after, if not before, Colorado.

Colorado be better than Oregon got Glenwood canyon then those 11,000 feet mountain tunnels to depreieve you of oxygen run parallel US 6 road for users like hairpin turns and not worried about crash and burning a fuel tanker.

Utah I-15 lots of elevation changes scenery changes a lot north of I-70 tall mountains ranges snow capped most of year and green areas in foothills of watsch ranges.

Desert and snow capped mountains in spots kind of cool looking.

Olympic were held in Salt Lake and Denver 40 years earlier. Montains are snow trappers

People who say they don' want Utah for "change of scenery" have never driven through Utah.

I really only want Utah cos it's 1 step closer to Wyoming and Devil's Tower. Close Encounters

With Utah, the map can go in any direction. To me it sets up all the other dlc states nicely in the poll except Texas. Texas is dependent on NM which will be released sometime 4th Quarter this year. If SCS truly goes with a North team and an East team and they work independently instead of on the same state just to speed up the release, Utah sets that up perfectly. Dlc can then go anywhere from Utah and connections would work nevertheless. Question is what does SCS considered North and what will be considered East as far as how teams could build out the map and in what order. Is North everything above Arizona and New Mexico. Is East everything horizontally East of New Mexico only going coast to coast. Not to be to technical but deciphering which is which without a NorthEast build mindset, things gets tricky.

In my opinion, if SCS does not go box style with state creation, it would be wise to spread out the map perhaps with Ca being the spread point. For example...with Ca, Nv, Az and NM in place they could spread out counter clockwise or counterclockwise. Meaning, provide Or, Id, Ut, Co and Tx to connect to the base game and NM. After that come back with Wa, Mt, Wy, Ok. and so forth. So technically, they would be building in a NorthEast fashion instead of just North or just East. Not exactly box style but I see it working.

With that said, still my favorite option is for the gamers to vote on what they would like to see next state by state. The only rule that needs to apply is that the new state must border an existing state or dlc state. So we can't go from NM to Florida or New York. Jumping around or having to create a teleport system wouldn't be very attractive just to hit some of the more attractive states.
