i think PACCAR bringing the DAF XG/XG+ over and just rebadge it, is more likely then Kenworth bringing the K220 over and having to make a new interior for left hand drive

or the old XF E6 now that is starts to phase out

Kenworth already has a foot in the door in NA though. People know it. DAF although Paccar has to carve a way in. The K series was already an icon here. Easier to pitch to me. DAF is too Euro style and doesn't fit the the NA market. But that's just my thought.

I agree with flight50 if a cabover is gonna come to US its probably a K220 or something K220 based. Kenworth name sells plus it looks the part so it could be true.

they wouldnt sell it as DAF but as Kenworth or Peterbilt, they already do it with the old LF cabs from DAF (or Renault really) the K270/370 or Peterbilt 220

and for whatever reason they already have a model for promotion over there to show to the people and see the reactions most likely

@flight50 well the k220 seems to have the new paccar style digital dash, it seems its the only option.

If the K220 does come back to the US... Then I can already see DTNA and Freightliner raising the Argosy from the dead.

I think this is a myth, at least enough not to generalize it. I don't remember source, was from insurance as well as volvo I think; supposably the first actor in the industry to do proper crash testing, decades ago.

Reasoning for coe being slightly safer was two-fold: Sitting behind the engine is just as likely to have it crush you in a frontal, than save you, while coe is above, higher than most direct kill-on-impact. And they uncovered that most accidents was not frontal anyways, it was flipping sideways, and in that aspect, they shared about equal safety.

I found it an interesting topic years ago, and found that the conventional safety aspect, is mostly anecdotal.

Aero and effieceny is the reason why they changed the roof design as pretty much all models over here bare the T9 series are using the same roof designs now. Just hope they made the drivers seat area more spacious as it's been one complaints with the K series for 20+ years now

Wouldn't get your hopes up about it entering the NA market as there exclusively a Aus and NZ model to the conditions over here for them to spend the money converting to NA specs would far outweigh the returns they would get in sales. A big reason why the Argosy was discontinued overall. Be more logical for the DAF to enter your market then the K220.

“If your safety depends on a 1.5 tonnes block of steel, you need to rethink your safety”. About that conv vs COE old debate…
