The introduction of the Western Star 49X to the game has opened up the possibility of including other vocational models that is suitable for rough roads, but have a place on the highways as well. ATS mostly takes place on paved roads, but also includes logging sites, mines, and farms where the road is rough, and can be unforgiving to purely highway trucks IRL.

I see no reason why more vocation models should be excluded in favor of those highway trucks. If they can also include models such as the T800, T880, SD122, HX,VNX, etc., then I am all for it.

@axl135 I totally agree. That is how I see it. I think the T880 should have been the one truck SCS went after back when ST released along with 8x4s. That is when ETS2 got 8x4 iirc. ATS took forever to get 8x4 and 4x2.....real life configurations. I didn't think that was right to delay ATS so long. Both games should have gone 8x4 at the same time for the models it did have. When HH released, I thought that was when we got 8x4. Then ST came...still no 8x4. If SCS couldn't ink a deal with the other 5 brands, go with a brand that you do have that can get you more trucks. Paccar was there but since Pavel wanted all 7 brands, SCS didn't bother to get what they could from Paccar until something opened up. No W990, no T800/T880 nor 567.

Hopefully they add some truck whose interior is similar to the 579 (567) or T680 (W990,T880). If the newer truck is well-modeled, then the two models in game can make use of it to some extent.

Or the other way round is also a not so bad idea, building those two models from ground up and building other models based of that.

I'd say 567 is rather unlikely (at least the current gen), but W990 is more than probable. While I do think SCS will add more vocationals eventually, I suppose they will go for the typical highway rollers first. And this puts trucks like 567 and T880 on halt. Not to mention, we still don't know if SCS will go for out of production trucks, or is the i9900 just a one-off, because it was mentioned on the blog at one point and they only want to "pay the debt". But if they will go for the oldies, then vocationals have even smaller chance of appearing.

In my opinion, the 9900i can't be considered as scs putting an out of production truck in game because their license was bought when it was still in production, so for now, i think that the probability of getting out of production trucks is only in the case they manage to secure the licence before the manufacturer cancelled the model

For next truck i think it will be the vnl since it is the one missing from the sound vlog, unless it happens something similar to the 9900i with the 5700xe, but unless they started working on it before the 49x i don't see it coming. after these trucks i think the most likely is the hx, pinnacle, 122sd or even the 4900, since it would complete the more classic look trucks that still are in production, only after those i would say that the next gen paccar and w990 will come, but this is me speculating!

9900i went out of production in 2017. There were no hints of any International truck even being worked on until 2018 and they already had the model for the Lonestar. Chances are all 3 International licenses were acquired in 2018.

thought it was put out of production only in 2018 such as the vnl, in that case, yes, there are higher chances for old cascadia and specially the 5700xe

The successor to the 9900i is the LoneStar, the successor to the ProStar is the LT, and the successor to the WorkStar is the HX, right?
Hopefully in the future America Truck Simulator will add these trucks: Freightliner 122SD/Century/Columbia/FLD/Cascadia/Coronado, Kenworth T800/T880/W990,Volvo VNX740, International HX520/ ProStar, and MACK Pinnacle, MACK Titan.

If I remember correctly, the Lonestar and 9900i where in production at the same time for a few years. Also the Lonestar has a retro design that harkens back to a style between the 1940’s and 50’s, which set it apart from the 9900i. So I really don’t think the Lonestar was a replacement for the 9900i.

^Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Just too totally different styles of truck.
