Re: Mack R Series (v1.3)
If a truck loses air while idling, you have an air leak sir.
Re: Mack R Series (v1.3)
I did not mean while idling.
When you let the engine idle for a while, the truck loses air.
And some trucks, like Mack trucks, start on air.
And that's where my question is, if the truck has no air, how do they start?

Re: Mack R Series (v1.3)
@Trucker_71, they mean the truck is sitting in a garage being idle, as in not doing work. Took me a second to parse it.
@rambojohn, if you lost air while the truck was sitting, you could use a tire as an air supply for the air starter. Since all tires going flat was unlikely while the truck was in active use, this provided a simple fallback option which didn't require a charged battery or a bump start to start the engine. Air starters have been obsolete for a long time, certainly by mid-70s, at least outside of Aus/NZ.

Re: Mack R Series (v1.3)
Again, a truck that's running and losing air needs repairs, parked trucks can lose air but that also means an air leak, even if it's a minor one. The last N. American company to use air starters as far as I know, was Consolidated /Canadian Freightways, they had a portable air tank that they would hook up to the starter to crank it over.

Re: Mack R Series (v1.3)
is there any mod to make the mirror closer since i dont have eye tracker
Re: Mack R Series (v1.3)
I found the hood mirrors pretty useful on this truck.
Re: Mack R Series (v1.3)
Normally a truck that uses air start, will have a separate air tank JUST for air starting, not the same tank used for air brakes.rambojohn wrote: ↑31 Oct 2021 22:43 I have a question.
I have seen that some trucks, such as Mack trucks, start by air, like the one in the movie Mad Max 2.
You know, if you leave them idle for a while, they lose air.
If out of air, so how are they able to start?
I am writing with translator, I hope it is understood.
I use this translator, in my opinion it is very good:

If the starting tank has a leak, it can be filled with air from a tyre or air compressor

Here in Spain, not much is known about these issues.
