I'd be down for this.

We need more way more varieties of Flatbed loads in general.
Just a Texas boy who used to want to be a trucker, and a love of Big Rigs... but now ATS has turned said love into an obsession.

@sobes, his stuff is cool! I like SuperTruckerDan for that content as well.

I think rail wheels would be a cool load. Would be great to deliver from one of the new steel prefabs to a rail export depot!

Some cool stuff on this thread. I set the link to start way on toward the end, it's 1300 pages! You might need a login to see some of the pics, not sure.

More flatbeds, yes; more cargoes, yes; what I REALLY want (which may or may not fit this) is more oversize/overweight flatbed loads.

I live not too far from a generator plant, AND a plant that makes the big precast concrete panels for warehouses, bridges, et cetera. I probably travel with 4-7 oversizes a week just on my daily commute. It's very rare that they are wide enough to require pilots, but still would add just enough challenge to make things interesting in-game.

I'm up for supporting this, I have been having similar thoughts since trailer ownership came in. I'd rather see what I'm hauling than have it in a box body. Open flatbed loads are not exactly unusual in the UK either, you will see plenty of them on our roads. I'd like to see a nice mix, including some slightly over length/width/height without making it a special load.

Most definitely DanW1981. Large oversized but not too large that it will be classified as special or needing an escort. I have had many mods previously that illustrated this nicely. Problem is, they are mods and they break. I believe the max in the US is like 2'-4' over overhang before it is considered oversize. This thread is about giving those types of loads for ideas for SCS to model. Hopefully the right person at SCS peeks in on this and can relay the feedback. I will be adding more pics this weekend to grow our little data base of ideas. Even if just one in this thread makes the flatbed cargo list, I'd be more than excited.

@ranaldo20. Thanks for that pic. I had one for my metal category haul but you saved me from having to post that pic, lol. One less, I'll have to link.

I know the vehicle department is slammed but I think cargo may perhaps actually be on the asset team perhaps? I know the lead vehicle guys did say that anything that has wheels, they model it. I wonder who models cargo since it doesn't have wheels but hauled by something that does have wheels. It would be cool if there was like 1-2 people that just continuously models cargo and at each update, they kick out several new cargo loads for each trailer type. In years to come, the diversity in loads will be huge. For TO and this new cargo system, SCS can cash in on something so simple. Make standard cargo for everyone via free updates and for those that want a bit more, give us cargo dlc and we will gladly pay. SCS is growing and any avenue to increase revenue, I'd think SCS would like to explore it. Leave no stones un-turned.

Yes please. More flatbed loads for sure. Especially tarped loads. Even general freight on a flatbed but covered in a tarp but could be anything. On a "flat top" as we Australians call them you often have to take whatever you can get as a "backload" (freight for your return journey). As a result there is no limit to what you see on a flatbed the possibilities are endless

The OP is correct. Owning a flatbed in the game gets stale very quickly as you run out of cargo options after about 10 trips
Is it too much to ask to have the vanilla SCS companies on the AI truck traffic???

What is the point of choosing a company name and logo when it's not used in the game???

In 20 years of trucking IRL I've never reversed a tanker onto a dock

Haha, you're welcome, flight!

I think I said it in this thread already, but I REALLLLLY wish the sliding tarp trailers were treated more like flatbeds, since that's what they are essentially. They currently seem to be considered a lesser van trailer and that bugs me a bit.
