Since there is only about one year and one month (13 months total) left in this decade, I think it is pretty safe to say that most of the ATS map development will take place next decade. ;)

Shouldn't it end on 12/31/19?

1st decade: 1.1.1 - 31.12.10 (Ten complete years) Every decade, century, millenium starts with 1 at the end of the year (1, 11, 1001, 1501, 2001). That's why so many people were wrong celebrating the new millenium when 1999 ended.

The problem is that with AN and BC, we are counting years before and after, but have no year 0. Math with integer negatives and positives, lacking the concept of zero, doesn't make much sense. Those who introduced the model were in need of a good spank. Zealots, knowing one, you know them all.

So in my view, both sides are wrong. :D

But no, to have the leading digit changed is always more important to people. You couldn't imagine how I fancied the year 2000, when i was a kid. 2001, that was only a movie. 2000 was the the beginning of something, not the end. At least I thought so...

And what was more exiting for you: when you turned ten, or eleven? Celebs will celebrate their 39th birthday 3 or 4 times for a reason. Who caress for nasty correctness? :D

TINO, 1/1/00 to 12/31/09 is also ten complete years. A decade is determined by the value of the penultimate figure in the year. For example, the 80s didn't start in 1981, they started in 1980, when the second to last number was 8, and ended when that number became 9.

But anyway, even if the 2020s start in 2021 instead of 2020, the next decade will be *the* decade of ATS's expansion.

I thing both of you are right, but I also think that you're being subjective, while I was calculating the decade in a more objective way since our current calendar counts it from 1.1.1.

I've never heard of our current calendar counting a decade from XXX1 instead of XXX0, but it may just be a regional thing, like how in Europe the date is arranged DD/MM/YY, while in the US it's MM/DD/YY.

Still, I'm steadfast in the belief that a decade is determined by the value in the tens place, no matter what the next value is.

Definitely.
It makes no sense for 2030 to be part of "the 20s".
That is 2020 to 2029.
