Re: Iceland pre-research tips
Iceland is known for it's weather signs. It tells the driver on the road about:
* The temperature (in celcius)
* The wind speed (m/s)
* Wind direction
* Strongest wind gusts (m/s)

A helpful note from the Iceland discussion thread:
Nammi wrote: 17 Nov 2025 11:54I'm noticing they're using google maps street view as reference material. I'm not sure if they're aware of it but there is a local equivalent https://ja.is/kort/ (press the "360°Götusýn" in the top left corner and then click on a blue road) It offers a lot of places that google never did street view for, lots of places are more up to date. I want to mention this here and hope the right people see it and can utilise it for Iceland.

Wow I didn't even know this thread existed!
One thing not mentioned earlier in this thread was the prominent shipping company located in Akranes. ÞÞÞ.

I went ahead and took these pictures on location: https://imgur.com/a/Sg095k4
From their website https://bifreidastod.is/ translated into English:
I think the location would make a great player garage or depo to deliver to/from if Akranes is included in the Iceland DLC. Akranes being the biggest town in Vesturland, the Western region of Iceland. Though not a thoroughfare town.
On the topic of Akranes, there are other notable things there:
Down the street is an oil change shop which could be ideal as service station:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/p6PnxtZX7x9nWvm36
I know SCS are fans of statues, there's a prominent fisherman statue in the Akranes town square:
https://ja.is/kort/?x=350860&y=427513&n ... 1&jh=111.3

There's a few more pictures of the statue in that album by going left or right.
There's also this lovely bird mural right next to the fisherman statue:

I hope this is helpful.
Something unique about these signs is that they'll say "LOGN" in the wind direction and speed area when there is no wind, instead of just listing a random direction and 0. Logn is an Icelandic word for calm or no wind.Mooner_37 wrote: 13 Jun 2025 15:24 Iceland is known for it's weather signs. It tells the driver on the road about:

They also take and do deliveries for Samskip and Eimskip. Two major shipping companies in Iceland.Bifreiðasöð ÞÞÞ ehf is a specialised transport company with regular scheduled trips every weekday between Akranes and Reykjavík. We also have fixed trips to Grundartanga. We deliver products to your door in the capital area and in Akranes. We take care of transporting containers to any country. We have 80-150 ton crane trucks that can handle complex projects.
Then we take on trailer driving and have wagons in our fleet for various types of transport.
We'll make sure you get your package.
