A few details about that explanation of Barcelona that did Madel (I included his map image on the quote because I think it's relevant to not get lost).Madel wrote: 11 Aug 2019 21:59 Barcelona
Barcelona have two orbital roads, B-10 and B-20
Ronda Litoral = B-10
Ronda de Dalt = B-20
Ronda Litoral is the natural extension of the highways coming to Barcelona from its from north and south, and links all the industrial zones on the North of Barcelona with the southern part, specially Airport and Zona Franca (the big port, train and industrial zone on the south of the city that Madel Explained). For trucks is a "must" of a road and from it several landmarks of Barcelona could be seen, like Agbar tower, France train station (from it's back), the aerial cable car on the port, the Wing tower in the port or the monumental graveyard of Montjuïc (that Madel already mentioned).
Most of the road is underground, because it was built from scratch over lots of zones that already existed (for centuries, some of them). They had to fit a 2-lane by direction speedway in the middle of an already constructed zone. The places where it's not underground the road has a nice design to mix it better with its surroundings (they gave great importance to the fact it doesn't become a "scar"for the city). That makes it a very distinctive road and a Barcelona's landmark on its own. Here you could see some images:
Barceloneta zone, near the most touristic parts of the port, the 2 lanes on the other direction are under the arches in the left (the right one is a service road) and a few bridges like the one seen here connect both sides for pedestrians.
Behind France's train station, that could be seen on the right, going to the Barceloneta's sector.
Beachs sector between the beach (on the left) and the olimpic village (on the right), the neighborhood that housed all the participants on the 1992 olympic games. [/url]
Under the Forum's zone That's almost the only part urbanized once the road already existed, that's why they decided to make higher tunnels with natural ventilation.
On the contrary than "Ronda Litoral", the "Ronda de Dalt" (literally, upper orbital road) has no interest at all for the game. It's important regarding Barcelona's traffic but in all its extent it crosses almost residential and office zones, no big industrial or commercial places. So, even there wouldn't be the traffic restrictions that Madel explain, there's almost no need for a big truck to drive in there. Also, the fact that the map has it's 1:19 scale means that Ronda de Dalt and Ronda Litoral will be too close one to the other. When you model Barcelona, the upper (inland) orbital road that should be included is B-30.
B-30 is a road that exist in parallel of the AP-7 highway circling all Barcelona's zone from the other side of Collserola mountains (a range of low altitude mountains that circles Barcelona almost completely from the inland and that mark their natural limits). AP-7 follows that range of mountains and links all that zone that it's full of big industrial zones. As the traffic is intense and traffic jams usual, lots of years ago they decided to segregate the traffic of that road. For near 15km, the AP-7 runs 3 lanes without any exit, incorporation neither rest stop. During all that stretch of road, two B-30 lanes in each direction are at each side of the AP-7, segregated from it and all the joints to other roads on that zone are done to the B-30 (so the traffic on AP-7 doesn't suffer jams due so many road joints). one entrance and one exit on every direction links AP-7 and B-30 at the begining and at the end.
One of the most iconic points on that zone are the 4 columns in front of the UAM university campus
I already explained back on a previous post hot that part of AP-7 links to southern Barcelona, A2 and everything on there.
