[REL] ProMods: Canada v1.2.4 updates and discussion

SCS as a company do not wish to have paid mods on this forum. While we understand that not all paid mods use the Intellectual Property of other companies/people, it is very hard to moderate what is and isn't acceptable when money is involved. There are also concerns that it could look unfavorable to potential work partners going forward if SCS allow mods that may potentially use unlicensed branding.

Remove the manifest and you have a swarm of unessecary bug reports by each new game version
You did not have the "compatible_versions" in the manifest files from the start it is rather new, it is added for a reason and not to irritiate the users

@plykkegaard I can live with these bug reports in the log. Main thing is that mod is working and not crashing. At least for me. I don't care about the cleanliness of the log file. Te main thing at least for me is to play the map/mod that I want to and ASAP after new patch is out.

@azumukupoe that's another discussion. As @horseman89 said: it's about mods working or crashing. If a mod made for ATS 1.25 still works in 1.43 it shouldn't be limited by the famous compatible_versions[] setting in the manifest file.
I also only care about errors and warnings in the log file in case of a crash. If a mod doesn't crash then I don't care about the game log at all.

@plykkegaard was clearly talking about the possibility of numerous bug reports getting sent to the Promods team

You might at least have a lot of visible issues if use a map mod not intended for current versionhorseman89 wrote: ↑22 Dec 2021 11:31 Main thing is that mod is working and not crashing. At least for me.
The map team will not know this up front
If a proper beta cycle is not done before a hotfix can be released who will be blamed?
This is the reason I advice against it

@plykkegaard Oh c'mmon! Normal users like me or Vinnie will never blame PM if for some patches PM Canada will not be working or will work with bugs(red textures etc) then we will know that map need to be updated and till then we will leave it alone. From 1.41 till 1.42 as I remmeber(you can correct me if I'm wrong) there wasnt much (or probably nothing at all in map sector) to update and PM still not releasing this 1.42 version for some time till some point and then we were fixing there this map by ourselves just repacking with corrected manifest files and map was working fine then....

Re: [REL] ProMods: Canada v1.1.0 updates and discussion
As soon as a new beta is launched, Promods needs to find out what major changes there will be to the SCS map and begin doing something in the direction of updating their stuff.
Holding the Promods update for the sake of introducing new content while the current version would work just fine is ludicrous.

I have seen enough as a beta tester and developer for Promods to understand the reasoning
IIRC the 1.41 update didn't touch the map, it was steering wheel only
Sorry, one out of many updates does not change a bit
