W.R.T. the following locked thread: viewtopic.php?f=40&t=2265
Please note that I took the advice listed in the above thread, and still see issues.
1) Not all of the Secondary Controls are copied. Eg: Forward and Brake/Reverse aren't set. There are others as well.
2) Music volume is not copied either (not a keyboard control - see Sound Options).

Re: Keyboard Controls, etc. not copied when creating new Pro
Thank you for your efforts, but why is this in the Bugs section?
I think it could be on the wishlist, maybe.

Hello ohaha,ohaha wrote:--- snip ---

I posted it here because my original 'bug' report (see link to original thread in my OP) was responded to with:
"Do not create a new profile when entering the game .
Go into one of your old profiles then on the menu screen there click on profiles and create a new one from there .
When you create it there it keeps all your keyboard and control settings"
(Author: celestra)
This does not work - while some settings are transferred, others are not. It should either work, or it should not be supported. Thus, I consider it to be a bug.
Cheers,

This still doesn't make it a Bug, in my opinion.
Anyway, i don't have an answer to your request.
SCS will look into it and see if it's worth changing.
Thank you.

Re: Keyboard Controls, etc. not copied when creating new Pro
its not probable that we will be changing much about this.
base logic is that some settings are bound to profile (and set to default in new one) and some settings are generic and affect all profiles (stays as set in new profile). all that were thoroughly thinked out and current state seems best for many reasons.

Nobody can tell you anything about it. Those who know about it aren't allowed to talk. And those who talk know nothing.

Ideally, a user guide / manual stating this kind of thing would go a long way to helping folks understand why things are the way they are. Or at least prevent us from logging 'bugs' which are really 'functioning as designed'. Please consider this for a future update.
Warm regards,

Sorry but I'm calling BS on that. And heres why, It is done on consols all the time. You have default setting, user settings, and profile settings. If I can do it on a PS3, then I really should be able to on my PC

Don't argue with Max, please. He is in the middle of the development process and he is the most informed person here. Just try to live with it.Briman44 wrote:Sorry but I'm calling BS on that.

Re: Keyboard Controls, etc. not copied when creating new Pro
The hardest/most annoying part of setting up after creating a new profile is the keyboard and controller button settings, this is also the easiest thing to overcome...
Go into your saves folder My Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/Profiles/546454546 (the numbers vary from save to save) and from an existing profile thats already set up copy the controls.sii and save it somewhere safe.
Now that you have that controls.sii you just replace the controls.sii in any new profile.
Procedure:
Create a new profile.
Set up your wheel/joypad by following the Wizard.
start the new game (skip intro if you like).
Start your first job (the same city delivery).
Exit game.
Go to My Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2/Profiles and find your new profile folder (546454545 or whatever)
Replace the controls.sii with a copy of the one you saved earlier.
Restart the game and continue with your first delivery and all your buttons are assigned

My hat off for you, Reef!
Can we, finally, consider this solved?
Thanks.
