Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
I'll never get the obsession of being on-topic around here. These boards are so quiet as it is but when every other post is complaining about things being in the wrong spot, it's no wonder the discussions fizzle out.
PRT, Route 66 Rebuild, and the Base Map are all-tied together anyway so...
I too hope we get a PRT or Route 66 blog this week! Very interested to see what changes are coming to AZ and NM besides the I-40 itself. Hopefully, please, updated desert and mountain textures.
My guess is we'll see quite a bit more viewpoints/photo trophies added. I suspect this will be a focus of PRT.

Apart from the obvious mountain texture updates, both AZ and NM also need to get rid of popping up mountains.

I second this. PRT is kinda overdue for a blog if you're asking me, it's been a long while come to think about it, especially when Coaches got an Introduction and Meet The Team blog in the last 35 days.disintegration7x wrote: 17 Jul 2025 16:19 I too hope we get a PRT or Route 66 blog this week! Mark came back from his weeks long trip recently, so I am pretty confident we'll get some news soon. Even if it's "only" related to sounds of the cars f.e.

@flight50 Route 66 is a map update and it affects the base states. The reason why it's being updated is irrelevant, its a rework of part of the 3 states this topic is about.
And users will get the map rework even if they don't buy the Road Trip DLC.

Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
Some of you are asking for a Route 66 update blog. Heck, I'm still waiting to see where the California reworks team went. I'll take that blog first. Talk about overdue, lol. The Route 66 stuff is new as of this year. We haven't heard a peep from the California team's whereabouts since phase 4 came Nov 2024. What we do know though is that there are other areas in ATS getting reworks.
Yes the base map update comes to us all regardless of the PRT dlc. I just did a trip from Cheyenne to Cedar Rapids this morning. A few days ago, I didn't Burlington IA to Cheyenne. I-80 looks pretty darn good in all states leading up to Nevada. I am counting my days when we can go from Davenport or even Chicago to San Francisco on I-80. If the reworks team has taken some time off to learn better mountain mapping like Austria, Switzerland, Greece, etc, then I'll gladly accept the non announcement of Nevada. But when Nevada does get announced, hopefully they can back the delay up with some great mountain to show us.
If the efforts will not be there for Nevada, I'd rather SCS skip redoing the base map mountain states until they can get someone that is just as good as the ETS2 mountain team. The mountains in Arizona, Nevada and even New Mexico could seriously use the best mountain models possible. If ATS is going console, that market will demand high end visuals as they are use to PS5/PS4 and Xbox graphics. What we got along I-10 in parts and US-385, that won't work for NV, AZ nor NM reworks. If SCS is going to rework those areas, I sure hope they do them justice.

Next year will mark 10 years since the release of ATS, would be a great celebration with a reworked Nevada.

Road Trip is a better anniversary gift, IMO.
But on the topic of mountains, I think one doesn't have to look into ETS2 for better mountain models. Montana is already here - and whatever little we have seen of South Dakota is also promising. I think only I-10 felt lackluster in the recent days. They have a lot of potential with Route 66, let's see.

Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
For some reason I'm thinking the 10th Anniversary "gift" (if there is one) will be similar to ETS2's 10th just to make it even and not give an unfair advantage. I know that sounds ridiculous, but that just popped up in my head for some reason.
As for PRT, I can see that coming as a Christmas gift, but it could come earlier than Christmas.
I'm thinking Route 66 Rework would be a good anniversary gift, especially since Illinois is coming next year as the first map DLC of 2026.

Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
We probably have time this year for just one major update now - 1.56.
Maybe at the time of the release SCS could release PRT or something map related for ATS.
I still have hopes for Nevada being reworked under the shadows.
But R66 coming this year it's also a good thing, at least we're going to have one decent connection to California.
