Australia would indeed be cool, or something like South America even. They could build up from Chile to the Darien gap and ATS could build south. By like 2060 they could meet in Panama lol

I would love to play some Aussie Truck Simulator.
But yeah, ETS is getting close to done and I'm curious to see where they all go after that.

You know what would be on topic............SCS telling use what projects are getting reworked for ATS. I'm not sure why its such a secret for ATS reworks but not for ETS2. What difference is it going to make by telling us what's getting reworked in ATS now.
You'd think they want to generate hype by allowing people to talk about what's coming. Its avoided in ATS for some reason.

Yeah I was hoping we could have at least gotten a teaser during the anniversary month in February, it would have been on theme.

I'm going to take a wild stab at it: ETS2 has a larger player base, a slower rate of expansion (with fewer places to spread; I think Morocco, northern Algeria, and Tunisia would be worth considering, since it's well developed, peaceful as far as the MENA region goes, and has ferry connections to Europe), and the outdated areas, before reworks began, took up a larger percentage of the map (unless I'm mistaken) and covered central, essential areas, like Germany and BeNeLux. ATS, meanwhile, is more of a game on the grow, with relatively rapid development away from the Base Map, and unreworked areas that were out of the way and (except for California and parts of Arizona) sparsely populated.
I'm going to guess that the ETS2 reworks get more publicity to retain players, along with the fact that the ETS2 team is kind of at the bottom of the barrel for new territory, while the ATS plan is to hype up the eastward expansion to try to draw in a larger audience (let's face it: Nevada may be essential for connecting California to everything to the east, is rich in industry and scenery, and desperately needs reworking in the game, but it has a reputation of being a boring wasteland; the more green and densely-populated East might have more appeal for European audiences; I remember it wasn't all that long ago that common complaints of ATS were that there was too much desert, and the map wasn't as dense as ETS2). I don't think radio silence for ATS reworks is a good idea at all, but this could explain it.

Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
I remember those too much desert post. Same could be said about too much Great Plains. SCS broke that up with the Arkansas column of states. Now they are doubling back to finish the GP. The same for Nevada. Doubling back to rework the desert states. Thing is, base map ATS is the worse of ATS. So redoing it will appeal with its better visuals of today's mapping. A lot of people like the desert scenery though. Especially now that the mapping is so much better. ETS2 doesn't get the same type of desert wastelands as base map ATS. With today's mapping, Nevada will be even better. But why can't SCS still not just say what's getting reworked openly I don't know.
Nevada's rework should feel way more desert than phase 3/phase 4 California as well as phase 1 Arizona. Nevada is pretty much all desert compared to Arizona and Utah. So seeing what the rework team does and what kinda of new desert we can expect is intriguing. Nevada back in the day was my favorites state because of its terrain. I'm looking for a renewed Nevada to once again be one of the better states for those geographic fans in the world out there. I'm also looking forward to an improved Nevada economy. So much more can be done with Nevada now than it was 10 years ago.

ETS has still more areas needing of a Rework, than ATS.
ATS reworks will come, sooner or later.
Route 66, was about what I expected, more or less. Altho, I did lightly hope for Santa Fe too.
For totally new areas "game" New Zealand and Australia.

I'm really annoyed so far with all this ''secrets'' about where the reworks teams of ATS went after Route 66. In the ETS side, they have at least 3 of them, and we all know very well and they got plenty of news about it. We are getting close to the end of the first half time of March and so far plenty of BS and nonsense blogs (IMO ATS side), the only good was about South Dakota a week ago. And about Illinois, the last blog was February 25, almost 3 weeks ago, and suppose to be already at least 2 per-week pace and close to release, but all quiet so far.
