^They probably tried to save time so that they can move on to the Route 66 Project to have it ready. for the 100 year anniversary and Illinois release. So it feels like corners where cut with phase 3 and phase 4. They had a whole update til Illinois. I don't think they' revisit California anytime soon unless there was valid uproar.

I feel like not having any exits from the 15 to Indio along the 10 was a mistake. It feels like they did Los Angeles right but then once your east or on the 15 they didn’t. They skipped on some major things.
An exit for Beaumont would have been nice. Even some scenery for San Bernardino would have been nice and an exit.
The way they did Indio makes it as if it’s a tiny town in the middle of nowhere when in reality that whole area has a lot more. Of they added Palm Springs scenic Mt San Jacinto and maybe the 62 it would have been much better.
Beaumont feels pretty realist but without an exit it just feels overly long before an exit.

I know it might be a stretch, but for personal reasons, hoping Wheeler Peak in the Great Basin is visible from US-50/US-93 in the NV Rework.
I may or may not have found out that I'm distantly related to the namesake of Wheeler Peak, that being George Wheeler.

Yeah, the sadly dropped the ball a bit with the San Fernando Valley and Inland Empire. When I have some free time, I’m gonna try and pick up the map editor again. I think the IE is an “easy” enough fix. Drop the entrance of San Gorgonio in favor of adding San Bernardino, and then there is room for an exit for Cabazon with a wind farm depot as well. San Bernardino would probably just be a couple more depots, and an extension of the current surface streets. Cabazon would mostly be a truck stop, the dinosaurs, and the wind farm.interstate trav wrote: 11 May 2026 23:13 I feel like not having any exits from the 15 to Indio along the 10 was a mistake. I think that’d be enough to give the proper feeling of semi-continuous urban sprawl that exists along the 10.
Sadly, I don’t think there’s a way to squeeze the San Fernando Valley in without scooting all of LA to the southwest (which I’m for). It just sucks having an area the size and population of St Louis completely un represented.

I really hope Las Vegas gets a complete overhaul during the Nevada Rework. I think the city still has outdated textures, and honestly, it deserves the same level of detail as LA, Chicago, and San Francisco.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to a blog post about the next rework project, which will most likely be Nevada.

At this point they kind of have to rebuild Las Vegas. Both CA and AZ sides of it are up to modern standards, and if Nevada is reworked they can’t have Las Vegas sticking out as an outdated city.
The transition from current LV to UT is not so bad, but when you go into Las Vegas, you quickly see the remnants of the base map, especially in the depots and road layout.

The good news for SCS with regards to Las Vegas is that I think a lot of the unique models (casinos, hotels, bridges, etc) can be used in the rework. They seem high quality enough to me. Just needs a new road layout and depots. And some new landmarks like Allegiant and/or T-Mobile Arena.

Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
They might as well just redo all the Vegas assets. No telling how the old geometry works with the new everything they are doing nowadays. We'll need parallax in Vegas. Not sure how easily the old assets can pull that off without too much effort. Plus if the layout changes up, that will require new assets. East of I-15 is so non tuck related that the entire layout to the city cand be anew. East Vegas we drive thru streets that seem quite fictional from the release of ATS in 2016.
I'd like to see more of the strip in with better accuracy and West of I-15 where trucking is more valid. Less of the surface streets East of I-15 and we might be able to get the airport.

Agree with flight, there is no reason not to remake Vegas with all new assets.
