Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
I've been away for a while, but it so good to FINALLY have official confirmation of the Nevada Rework, i'm very excited for I-80 and Las Vegas, crossed fingers we get it by the end of the year.
Also, casual reminder, i still hope the Mazany Creek Duckies survive the purge, and yes, i know Mazany Creek is not real and will probably be removed, but it can be turned into a little easter egg somewhere else.

Now that they have announced it Im thinking it’s coming faster. They likely had already planned on getting it done but switched to the Route 66 Project. I feel like they thought it would get some backlash from on here so they didn’t lets us know what their plans were,

No backlash for Nevada. Route 66 is what got all the backlash which is why they waited so long to even announce it. After phase 4 California, 95% of us just knew Nevada being the 2nd old state is where they was going next. Now that PRT won't even feature Route 66, that makes the backlash putting Route 66 before Nevada even more valid for backlash.
That decision is not on the Reworks team but its on upper management. There was no reason to prioritize Route 66 over Nevada at this point. I can understand if Route 66 was going to launch with PRT. But that is not the case. At least Nevada got announced before that Atlas blog came out. That would have been a crap Storm. Still disappointed that SCS didn't flip Route 66 and Nevada around.
Once Nevada is knocked out, its just the remaining 1/3 of Arizona left to rebuild. At that point, consoles should be okay for ATS. I'd imagine ATS could go consoles first with the worse parts of the ATS map rebuilt. Much less worse map to rebuilt compared to ETS2. I wouldn't recommend and outdated maps to be on next gen consoles. That probably pushes ATS as the guinea pig for the new engine update that is running consoles is my guess. DX11 was a big jump and if iirc, ATS got updated first to it.

Still the only thing I can think of is Route 66 centenary.... now whether there were actually any tangible benefits other than "wouldn't it be cool" I doubt we'll ever know.flight50 wrote: 11 Aug 2026 05:33 No backlash for Nevada. As I mentioned in the Road Trip thread about this, was all the Route 66 rework ultimately just because of the Centennial? I understand you'll be able to explore Route 66 with the cars when releases, but leaving it out of the Atlas feature, especially in the anniversary year, seems totally disconnected to me.

I think it was more for Illinois, so we would have the whole highway (or at least its course) in high quality. Having it reworked on the same year as its centennial was probably a coincidence, and I don't think it had anything to do with PRT.

Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
If it was just for Illinois, the same thing could have happened for Nevada. If they did I-80 like they did I-40 thru New Mexico, no big deal. NM I-40 was in better shape than I-80 Nevada but I-40 got fast tracked. I-40 NM could have waited. Yet NM got reworked before I-80. When SCS announced the reworks projects in 2020 on the Xmas stream (iirc), I have never seen anyone mention (before Route 66 was a thing) say that they want I-40 NM rebuilt and I-80 Nevada is okay. I-80 was the first road mentioned outside of California's rebuild.
I'm with Marcello Julio. Just seems totally disconnected to me. Once the entire base map is rebuilt, no big deal. But the order en route to that finish line is a head scratcher. The Reworks team is only doing what they are told. But someone pulling the strings got the order of priority in the wrong order. If Atlas featured Route 66, everything would make perfect sense. That makes Route 66 valid for Illinois. But as it stands right now with Atlas not having Route 66 for PRT at the jump, is totally disconnected and makes zero sense to me.
Big question is, when does PRT release? When does Nevada release? If Atlas does not have Nevada in, it doesn't seem like Nevada will be ready for Atlas/PRT. Therefore Route 66 priority over Nevada should be explained. But I'm not sure we'll ever get an explanation on it.

Road Trip is apparently set to release until the end of the year, since in the Atlas blog mentions South Dakota as one of the states that will be supported.

Re: Base Map Rebuild (CA, NV, AZ) General Discussion Thread
PRT will release before the Nevada rework will be out and after South Dakota release. The omission of Arizona (Route 66 rework, Grand Canyon) in Atlas suggests the Arizona rework of the remaining areas for next year, after Nevada is finished.
But noone knows why they didn't feature a single postcard route around the reworked map part already. Maybe they plan to change a bit more in the reworked Route 66 area with the Arizona rework as well now. This might be the reason why they initially planned to include the Route 66 area with PRT/Atlas at launch, but now they don't.
