Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
@TruckerDog Makes sense actually. Knock out all the bugs first. But how much of the truck is altered for AI? Are polygons decreased a tad for performance so that we can see more in traffic, as cargo.....and hopefully with the engine upgrade, back at truckstops?
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

speaking of AI... is it just me or aren´t there any Western Stars among the traffic AI, i mean i´m sure i´ve not even any 49X so far...
but sure, bugfixing should always be in 1st place.

Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
When the AI version of a truck is made, the model does get a polygon reduction as well as it gets LODs done. Making the AI also makes the trucks possible to be spawned at truck stops and other hookups on the map ( like for example being displayed at Western Star truck dealerships ).

49X runs in AI but has a very low spawn rate. This is due to the fact that truck is brand new, thus you do not see many of them out there on the road. It just reflects reality.Stealth Daemon wrote: ↑02 Feb 2023 12:36 speaking of AI... is it just me or aren´t there any Western Stars among the traffic AI, i mean i´m sure i´ve not even any 49X so far...

By the way, 57X is coming for AI soon.

@TruckerDog
ok, then i haven´t really noticed them yet. But you've got a point there.
at the moment, the Ai Trucks i see the most are the Volvo VNL, Peterbilt 579, Kenworth T680, the others are quite uncommon, at least it feels like it.
nice to see the 57X coming to AI traffic, i like varity and also seeing the ingame Trucks in traffic

Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
Yesssss. Glad to hear the 57x is coming. Sounds like with 1.47. I definitely see a few 49x's in traffic from time to time so its there and its spawn rate fits. I finally saw my first 49x irl here in Dallas 1-2 weeks ago. It will be pretty cool once the 49x and 57x become more common irl. The spawn rate can get cranked up in ATS.
Once the 5700 goes thru all the bugs it need for fixes, the spawn rate can get dailed up from the start. It should be lower than the Cascadia, LT, VNL, 579, T680, 389 and W900 though. I think the sweet spot for the 5700 is where the Mack Anthem is right now. Then the 9900i just notch or 2 lower than the Anthem and 5700.
Some truck are more common than others per region too so that's a factor to consider. Overall, the variety has more than doubled since even the VNL dropped towards the end of 2018. Only more will get added over time and that will be an awesome site. Thanks for taking time out your busy schedule and chiming in Truckerdog. Its always good to see gold comments.

Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
Thanks a lot for clearing it up!
Can I roughly ask the people here, is sticking to reality that important when it comes to AI trucks?
I would prefer the rates to be slightly increased, how do you feel about it? Should I take that question to general discussion thread?

I often try to understand what's wrong with the 5th wheel and why are people so obsessed with this subject... I understand why they point out 5th wheel position now. It's absolutely wrong. It's way too far to the exact point in ATS.
Edit : On the other hand, 5th wheel can slide. I just compare the position with internet images

Truck is nice, looks good, and drives well. Success.
Hopefully we get sliding 5th wheels in the future.

Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
I got to drive the truck some more last night and I'm very pleased. The flow-below being default is (AFAIK) strange, but other than that I don't have any complaints.
