Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
In fact the "power hood" serves to accommodate engines that need a larger radiator. Technically it would be a bigger engine improved for a better working experience. Of course, it's all up to interpretation. But this in real life. In the game we can only wait.
Honestly I found this high hood much prettier than the previous one.

Now if they add the trench roof sleeper, that would be awesome.
Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
Speaking of sleepers, I wish the trucks in-game offered all available sleeper options; I see no reason, beyond licensing issues, why the 49X lacks 36- and 60-inch sleeper options.

A truckload of extra-work. Pun intended.
I have approximate knowledge of many things
Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
Because more cabs = more development time, they have to create a new cab, a new interior and map all the paintjobs to that cab, the Cascadia got lucky to have 4 but don't expect that to happen with every truck, just accept the 3 cabs only for now, maybe when they run out of new trucks to add they could got back and add the missing cabs to some trucks but don't count on that.
Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
I doubt it would add that much time, especially with the reference material they have if I can add them in a few days with only pictures at hand. I'm willing to bet all these paintjobs are the reason why we get so few cabs IMO a decal based livery maker in game would be a lot easier to manage.

So do more hoods. I'm aware of the process and how difficult it is. I'd rather wait longer for more options, honestly.
And to add: I wouldn't be surprised to learn that SCS recycles meshes between very similar truck models. I wouldn't consider them lazy for doing so (and I don't think they should be), but instead resourceful, considering that manufacturers have adopted similar practices; this has been especially true, especially in more recent memory.

So the Western Star Heavy haul thing is 100% just the Power Hood

Who knows. Maybe WS wanted them to do that.
Plus side is that it has cabin suspension.

Re: Western Star Trucks Discussion Thread
The new video of the power hood was such a disappointment.
I was always a supporter of SCS but slowly they disappoint more and more.
I still had a hint of hope that they finally fix the completely weird four-axle chassis of the middle cabin (clearly the chassis of the 72' bunk). In the new video you can see that of course they have not.
To be on the safe side, there is no headache rack on the truck in die video because it is 2 meters behind the cabin and was probably not fixed either.
I don't even want to talk about the fifth wheel position.
There is a big announcement of a new heavy duty level up but the only thing that has been done is to bring a higher hood and suspension into the game (cool but please don't tease it this way)
The 8x6 will still be completely unplayable because of the wrong weight distribution
I'm sorry for my complaining but I would really like to see SCS put some sense into their developments and not just work stubbornly according to the same pattern.
A first step would be not just to take over the CAD drawings 1 to 1 but to take a look at a real heavy-duty tractor.
