Re: Next ETS2 truck speculation
With IAA currently going on this week and the focus on electric trucks when do you think SCS is going to start adding them.
The biggest issue id think is how would SCS add the charging station. Would they charge while you sleep or charge and wait?

Re: Next ETS2 truck speculation
I think they would start adding electric trucks once the major diesel trucks are added, or whenever an OEM requests SCS. Adding charging stations may not be an as big issue as one might think. They can add them to the player garages, truck dealers and some larger fuel stations and rest areas - a good frequency IMO. I guess charging would work similarly to loading in the cargo market.
Re: Next ETS2 truck speculation
I too have asked myself the same question on more than one occasion. I believe that in the short-term future SCS will surprise us by adding an electric truck. From the point of view of publicity and brand image, it is very interesting to be the first to be present in the game with a truck with a new technology. I wonder what will be the first brand interested in their electric truck being the first to appear in the game? After seeing in recent months the close relationship between SCS and Westen Star and Freigtliner. Knowing that these brands belong to the same group. Will Mercedes be the first with the eActros?
I'm also very hopeful that at the IAA they can talk to Ford Trucks and in the future we get the Ford F-Max in the game.

Oh, take for sure they have talked with Ford (and others) since time ago. But that kind of events are different because the contact could be more direct, personal and at higher level. The paperwork is done under the table by other staff, but still a handshake at the right moment and with the right person makes things way smoother.
BTW; there exist a photo published by SCS themselves about their internal workings (I recall, maybe the images when working from home, but not sure). Pint is, the image shown the program they used for internal communication (was Slack?) and it had one channel for every manufacturer of the 7 we have in the game but also appeared a channel named Ford. Of course, the meaning of those brand labels was a subject of high speculation.
And on a last note about the Ford, I'm starting to see some of those with French plates down here in the Mediterranean route. Seems some company is importing those trucks on there too; here start to be a really common sight on long haul main roads. I'm even seeing BMC with certain frequency (still rare of course, but there are some).

Did you saw any Ford with Portuguese plates yet? CTT (the mail service) and TJA had orders of over 100 trucks and they already got the third place in sales here

I've not noticed none of those, but it would be just a matter of time I suppose. Also I guess most international routes for Portuguese trucks are done through Irun border instead of using the Mediterranean corridor through la Junquera. There are a good amount of Portuguese trucks hauling that corridor; but I'm sure there will be a lot more on the Basque side.

Those spy shots are now over a month old, but my post was lacking the side by side.OzembuchVRICI wrote: ↑05 Aug 2022 11:45 We haven't even got the MP5 Actros and Mercedes is already testing a whole new aerodynamic cab, probably to make use of the new EU norms/regulations, just like DAF did.

Re: Next ETS2 truck speculation
If Mercedes is planning to launch this new truck to go head on with the NG DAF, I think it's time for them to step up their game and get rid of those front and side mirrors and go for something like the Corner Eye from DAF.
The Actros uses mirror cams as well but when you look to the side there is these two eye sores that simply don't belong there.

Re: Next ETS2 truck speculation
I thought both trucks offered physical mirrors as well as mirror cams.
