The funny thing is that while the GTA map is fictional, so is the SCS map. But the SCS map team seems to refuse to use more editorial liberties to fill in spots or connect roads that might not be connected irl. The SCS map is way bigger than what it seems, but so much space is wasted.

For offroad sections specifically, they could do so much more to vary up the experience a bit.
And just like SCS, Rockstar takes a real area and fictionalizes it. Such as Los Angeles to Los Santos, and Miami to Vice City. But the GTA world is much more interactive. This is because not just you can enter buildings, but all the roads are accessible not cut off by XXX. And the SCS map is larger, but yeah I agree with that.

Offroading is something TWA has, and the addition of dust storms and other weather is most exciting.

Yeah, the Truck World weather system looks far superior, which is no surprise. Anything done by a modern game developer should be superior to SCS because their games are so outdated.

And how much is GTA5 scaled down, for example?

Is there any clue to when TW:A might release?
And any clue to how much of Australia there will be in the...
Base map, or is it all of Australia at once?

Truck World Studio, it seems to be a polish company.
I do hope it goes well for them.

Kinda hard to tell, but for example Watch Dogs Legion map is allegedly 3.5km by 3.3km
[ external image ]

Probably at 1:10 scale it would be possible to fit a realistic scaled-down city like GTA or Watch Dogs, with almost no XXXXX road blockers

Hell, I'd argue that even at 1:20 scale SCS could fit something like Watch Dogs Chicago in the game - the distance IL/WI border and another marked city (Champaign) is 160 mi (or 260km) - even at 1:20 scale that's 13 kilometers. Maybe even more if they cheat and move Champaign slightly south. Obviously they cannot use the whole distance, otherwise these cities will be bordering each other but something like 8-10 kilometers of space is feasible.
