Whats bad with implying a 1:1 road, so its closer to real life? It would look better and more realistic. Not exactly asking for 10-12 lanes here. Just a tiny bit of realism where its possible within the scale and engine constraints. I don’t understand SCS reluctance to making impressive highways. Or why the lanes they use are 1.5 wider than real life lanes. So what if its 1:1 at places, thats only good. They already do that with cities in places so why couldnt you place a 6 lane system through El Paso? Of course you could.

game engine can handle 8 lanes as we have 4-4 roads in game files and in some locations. I don't get the scale argumentation for lane number. Yes it indirectly affects everything but not sure how it limits total number of lanes especially in big cities. more lanes doesn't take that much space compared to fewer lanes. Size of connections and exits for different lane number are somewhat similar too. I would say some devs don't pay attention too much to such tiny details or maybe it's some sort of SCS internal policy or it's a wip shot which will be replaced by proper assets

Could be WIP, however that excuse is used for nearly everything when it comes to SCS so I'm doubtful. I have seen enough butchered highways by SCS to know that unimpressive lane count is how it will be once the content drops. This makes me especially worried for DFW area. Going to be a lot of highway and lane butchering there.

Honestly.....I don't care if roads in Texas are 2 Lanes when they should be 3.......3 lanes when they should 4. Can 6 lanes fit, I bet it could. Trim down the shoulders. But it's not a big deal breaker to me. I concern myself with ICC's. That more directly affects the entire city than a 2 minute drive thru town then back to 2 lanes outside the city anyways.

I do agree that in this case, SCS should have gone with 6 lanes instead. But I will not allow that to take away from the entire city. I expect there to always be something off. If everything else is spot on, that's enough positive for me. I don't demand 100% perfection but I do demand the vibe fits 100%. If I can tell where I am, the vibe firs. Lanes don't dictate the vibe, the environment does.

I am sure 2 vs 3 lanes has to deal with how realistically SCS could terminate them. I do not like how Reforma terminates their lanes.......just to get the proper lanes in. But they run their mod how they want. This isn't a mod. In cities in the US, most lanes in the city terminate with an exit only...the yellow signage. I'd rather 2 lanes than an unrealistic lane reduction if they don't feature that exit only off ramp. There are pics that show 3 lanes in the city but of course those are not talked about. Only the one that has 2 lanes. So to say they didn't do 3 is only partially correct. Even though it looks like 3 fits, we don't know what they choose 2 lanes. The city still looks like El Paso.........with or without 3 lanes.

I thought there was a part of the interstate somewhere in Texas that would have more than 3 lanes going in each direction. Where abouts is that.

And also, actually, kind of curious on this, but what would be the chances of Texas and Montana being released together?

No chance at all. Texas is most likely 2023, Montana is definitely 2022. Since the vegetation and other assets on blogs seems to suggest a lot of rehashing and copy paste of textures and models is going on for Texas, I wouldn't completely rule out late 2022 for Texas though. Personally I hope it gets released when its ready and mature, not when it meets a yearly deadline. With how the blogs are looking, I don't think it will be impressive if it drops in 2022.

That's everywhere in Texas. The pics I posted are 3 lanes. The other pics from the blog....are 2 lanes. They merge at some point somewhere.

Bedavd wrote: 19 May 2022 22:50 I wonder that too. We have so many photos of the I-10/US 54/I-110 interchange I wonder if we'll go down I-110. It doesn't look like there's much but houses and small commercial down to the boarder crossing. There is the railyard between US 85 and TX-375. So maybe we could get TX-375 between I-10 and over to I-110 to access that. Maybe.
This doesn't mean it's a guarantee of course, but I'm struggling to think of many examples of a big freeway interchange like that (I-10 @ US-54 @ I-110) that SCS didn't allow you to take all directions.

I-84 @ I-205 east of Portland blocks off I-205 South. That's all I can come up with.

So it's possible that the inclusion of US-54 from Alamogordo, which wasn't strictly necessary, might have been more intentional. Thinking ahead to the future, it could be a way to get us to Bridge of the Americas via I-110. So even if we don't get anything south of I-10 there now, we could if/when Chihuahua comes someday.

@flight50 I was flying in MSFS the other day over central texas.... there had to be thousands of windmills below me. Is Texas really that big on windmills?

There's another whole industry! LOL. I never knew Texas was that into wind power.
