Texas Discussion Thread
Re: Texas Discussion Thread
I think you forget that SCS changed their short-term goal from reaching the Atlantic to reaching the Great Lakes. They said in a stream not too long ago that they would be moving along old Route 66, or something along those lines.
I don't think we'll be seeing Louisiana, Missisippi or Alabama all that soon.

Re: Texas Discussion Thread
Yeah, Pavel already said they are aiming for the Great Lakes area, Route 66 and "corn, corn and more corn", so don't expect anything East of Texas any time soon.
Re: Texas Discussion Thread
Per the Montana stream, Louisiana is out at least for the next 3-4 years I bet. Arkansas is a maybe. If 2023 brings OK+KS+NE then 2024 could be AR+MO+IL or 2024 could be SD+ND+MO. Route 66 is the key though.

Aaah, see, the winds of fortune have changed! No longer are we "Atlantic or Bust" (as previously indicated). Now it's "Corn, corn, and more corn." indicating a push to the midwest/great lakes.Trakaplex wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022 16:46 You think if Davido moved onto the states like Oklahoma, you think a separate team is building LA/AR? That would square the rest of Texas, and we may get Texarkana as close in the future if it doesn't come with Texas. That would mean that team could expand across the gulf toward Florida, while Davido's focuses on the Midwest. Dakotas are definitely an early 2024 DLC if OK-KS-NE is a bundle, and late 2024 if not. That would mean they could get to NYC before 2030.
I think we could see Mississippi and Alabama by late 2024, except by a different team.
My assumption is our friends developing the game some 5,000 miles away are calling Texas gulf coast "Atlantic Ocean" Despite the fact that no one here refers to Gulf of Mexico as Atlantic ocean. So no longer will they be filling in the southeast. It's Midwest/Great Lakes or bust!!!
I'm kinda disappointed FL/GA/Carolinas is pushed further way, that's proper east coast/Atlantic Ocean, in my mind.

Well, look at it this way. The mapping team only gets better and better, and more assets, prefabs, companies, industries, and cargo (along with any new upgrades or features to the game engine) for them to use is never a bad thing.VTXcnME wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022 18:29Aaah, see, the winds of fortune have changed! I wish they could get to FL faster too but heading up to MI and IL is not necessarily a bad thing IMHO.
Re: Texas Discussion Thread
Honestly, I think the map goes more centralized heading to the Great lakes. If they cover the middle section (I-70/I-80), once they complete Route 66 mindset and hit Chicago they can split off and :
1) 1 team can double back to fill in the rest of the North. South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin
2) 1 team can double back and fill in South. Louisiana, (Arkansas? Depends on if it part of 2024), Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky
3) 1 team can push East. Indiana, Ohio, Michigan
After all that, we have like 75% of the US done. We still have no clue how the rebuild team could factor in. What will they do once the base map states are redone. Do they continue maintenance or will they join paid map.

Re: Texas Discussion Thread
This is like the third time I've seen that argument that Europeans think the Gulf of Texas is the Atlantic Ocean lol. I promise you that's not what we learn in school here.VTXcnME wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022 18:29

In the areas of western Texas that share sectors with New Mexico, one thing that I've really been enjoying is seeing in the 1.46 beta is the Texas style road sign poles in use. They look pretty nice!

Re: Texas Discussion Thread
Maybe if Davido releases KS-OK-NE as a bundle by 2023, Team 2 could work on the Dakotas by 2024. Team 3 could move onto LA/AR. Team 4 could split and stick with base map reworks. That's just my idea. Texas has the capability of splitting into three teams itself. As Team 2 moves toward the Great Lakes with MN-WI-IL (2025), Davido could do MO-IA (2024), with Team 3 MS-AL (2024). Then by 2025, Team 2 could move onto MI-IN-OH which would be done by 2026. So in theory, Team 3 could move to GA-FL by late 2025. Now we hopefully have the base map team done, and there could be TN-KY, by 2025 or 2026 as well. Three DLC per year. Or maybe I am too optimistic...
But this is why I am saying that they could reach New York around 2029 and New England 2030.

Re: Texas Discussion Thread
Well the Gulf of Mexico is, technically, the Atlantic Ocean in the same way as the Baltic is technically the Atlantic and bananas are technically berries. It’s scientifically correct but it doesn’t ~feel~ right.
