Very surprised it's still making it into new expansions. But then again I shouldn't be that surprised. It's one of their favorites, I believe it made it into New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington as well.
Yeah, it's quite possibly the most unrealistic of them all lol.

It's supposed to be a farm, but the layout and components are so far from reality.

It's honestly reason to be concerned for the Midwest. Farms and grain elevators are not a highlight of the map.

You guys should look at how SCS did companies back in 18 Wheels of Steel Haulin and American Long Haul. It's pretty much exactly what you are asking for (companies made from individual assets, then a company added and trailer spots defined -- ALL IN THE EDITOR).

The biggest thing I can't understand with SCS is they have had so many great ideas and features in the older games that get dropped with the new games. Makes no sense. Although much more basic than ETS2/ATS, Convoy/Haulin/ALH had modular junctions. Then when ETS2/ATS arrived, they dropped that and came out with one piece prefabs (this system was also used in Pedal to the Metal, prior to Convoy/Haulin/ALH). We can only hope maybe they will change the way companies are handled to be more like the Haulin system, as they did with junctions.

I have to believe they went with the simpler junctions and companies to speed up map construction and guaranteed compatibility with trailers. (as others have said) Perhaps a relic of a smaller SCS team in the early days, but something that sorely needs to be addressed at this point.

I guess you might be overlooking the size factor. I believe scaling up is where SCS struggles, when it comes to implementing features like this. On the flip side, I think SCS could have avoided this situation in the first place by having just a li’l bit of foresight.

At least now, every intersection (and to some extent, truck stops) feels unique. Hopefully the day we see unique company prefabs, dealerships and repair shops isn’t too far.

Prefab reuse policy imo is pretty consistent across both games, some of Iberia prefabs date back to Italy dlc. The same goes for introducing new prefabs for each new dlc, on average 10-15. But from time to time they could bring more than that like it was the case for Oregon.

Well my wheel and pedals arrived today, did a couple of short trips around Texas, before doing a long haul through from Dallas to Missoula. Went quite well just need to get used to the sensitvity of the brakes. About the only thing I'd say is better on keyboard and mouse is controlling the view. Have loved the journeys today.

^Get Track IR and you'd ditch keys for views for the most part. That's the ultimate in view control. I'll never play ATS nor ETS2 without it.

I use the Tobii eye tracker and you can use that even in total darkness if you want although it can be a little over sensitive at times, but is so much better than using buttons to control the view.

Is it not possible to use a wheel to drive and the mouse to control the camera? That would seem like the next best thing to me. Controlling the camera with buttons is a pain.

This device is not supplied to my country, and it is very expensive. I'd rather spend this money on upgrading my PC.
