one interesting fact about 1.38, if the game cannot find an Ai (missing PMG) or an Ai wheel, the game no longer crashes now, only shows the error in gamelog but the game goes on without crashing. this may be thanks to the change from .sii extension to .sui?

My mods were crashing the game due to missing shadows in closed testing. They changed the folder structure of some parts (yeah yeah I know, we should make copies not like to scs stuff shush now) so it was likely a protective measure because they knew it might affect a lot of mods.

Seriously, the changes to the adaptative transmission annoy me right now, especially since it seems to cause problems in economy mode (where the truck try to start in last gear)
Not only that, did you experienced the problem with the kickdown in all modes? In economy and normal modes it does not kickdown even bringing full throttle, and only rev past 1500 RPM on hills, and in power mode it doesn't rev past 1600 RPM on flat terrain, but at least the kickdown works.

I've submitted a bug report about that problem, that includes a video of the issues, tested in both modded and unmodded profiles (The modded profile is just like yours, it have some tweaks to the engine and transmission files to correct the stronger engine brake and the final ratio, no more mods were used in that profile since new.). And that bug report was completely ignored (Not even an answer from moderators or official beta testers.), therefore I don't now if it was accepted or declined.

*Note: Just to explain why this is quite important (I know Rookie one know that, but maybe other people don't.), most engines have the peak power at +/-1700 RPM, therefore if you are unable to reach past that RPM, even on flat land, you will never be able to have the engine working in the power sweet spot, that is very important to make overtakes or to gain speed rapidly.

If it didn't get a number then is not accepted at least yet.

Truck engines and transmissions are tuned to work at torque sweet spot "better pulling power" for most diesel engines this is beween 1000 to 1500rpm
There are naive questions, tedious questions, ill-phrased questions, questions put after inadequate self-criticism. But every question is a cry to understand the world. There is no such thing as a dumb question.

@sga0617 Yep, it's really annoying

@gandalf7472000 only issue I have is that there is some specific tuning are already hard to replicate as is, the XE packages are a good example of those (to give an example, the XE package require overdrive transmission with a low ratio differential, with 2.64 being the most common one, and require the RPM to be never under 1050 RPM except when starting from a standstill, and never exceed 1500 RPM until necessary (for hills for example), with the truck switching to 12th gear at about 60 mph)

It bothers me to as I use mods my self. But scs caters to the majority of players who unfortunately for us they play vanilla. We just have to find a solution for our mods to work properly.
Scs does the best they can for the vanilla game. moders have to adapt not the other way around.

@gandalf7472000 In normal operation that's correct, and you will try to maintain the torque sweet spot (Which is between 900/1000 RPM and 1300/1400 RPM in vast majority of american engines.). But when you require more power, IE to overtake or to start from standing still in a hill, you need to be able to rev up the engine past the power peak point in the RPM range, which is usually near 1700 RPM, to maintain the engine within an usable power band.

For example, if you try to upshift on a hill, loaded, near the 1500 RPM point, you are likelly to be in a too low RPM after the upshift to keep going through the hill, that's why is important to have the posibility to rev past 1500/1600 RPM, at least with Normal and Power modes, because from my point of view, the Economy mode is performing as expected (Kickdown/ revving up disabled.).

Your logic is correct to a point.

But why you uplift in a climb? You hold the same gear if it pulls and let it go to 1700 and if you lose speed you downshift. in automated you can use the hint shift function scs provided. Don’t expect the gearbox to do it for you. Even in real trucks with automated you have some times to downshift ur up shift your self

IRL Kickdown is still there on Volvo at least in economy mode, it just shift at lower RPM than in performance mode
And nowadays, most trucks transmissions (Eaton, ZF, Volvo/Mack/renault, Mercedes/Detroit diesel, Scania, etc...) actually have the logic to switch to a lower gear even in economy mode.

Anyway, biggest issue I see is the starting gear, it's not normal that when we set the low gear range lower RPM to above 900 RPM that it try to start in the last gear
