That's what's so weird. How does a professional 3d modeler look at pictures of a vehicle and invent parts/angles that don't exist?JoeAlex23 wrote: ↑01 May 2022 16:41 I do agree that the 389 is terrible, but you're looking WAY too deep into it, when SCS made the original 5 trucks (579, T680, 389, W900 and VNL) they didn't had any experience using accurate CAD files to make a truck, it was all based on pictures, and to be fair, those 5 trucks are way better than some of the older trucks in ETS2.

Idk, you ask them, that was an old way of making things and SCS learned from their mistakes and decided to improve the models using CAD files since the Lonestar, maybe someday they will revisit old trucks, for now, we just need to deal with it... If you think the 389 is bad, i recommend you to never take a closer look at the ETS2 trucks that they used from ETS1

Seeing the second photo of the first post of this thread, specifically the one of the peterbilt 579 with the hood and the doors open. It makes me think that when they were developing ATS, the developers intended to make the doors openable and maybe you could walk around the truck. To perform periodic engine maintenance or any other basic maintenance related to the truck itself. But for whatever reason they did not succeed or decided not to focus in that direction. The truth is that it is a shame.

Truck world : Australia is doing that. Fully clickable and accessable interior and getting out of your truck, doing controls etc. Everything SCS games missing is in a game. I'm sometimes thinking that SCS seriously needs a rival.
Re: Peterbilt Trucks Discussion Thread
The things that SCS does not do might be in Truck World but it could lack everything that SCS does do. Competition is always good though. That's why it always good to Stat in top if you are already there.
My post are only thoughts and ideas. Don't assume it makes ATS.

The thing with opening the hood etc would be a lot more time consuming to design. An engine has so many smaller parts and people would 100% complain over any inaccuracies.
Would you be ok with each truck taking many more months to create just so you can have a look at its engine before you get bored of it after the 2nd or 3rd time?

Not worth the effort imo. A lot more can be done first at least.

Hood could stay as it should be doors are enough for the start. Fully clickable interior would be great feature that we should have in the future. Not only the dashboard also we should access the sleeper and buttons on there as well even they are unnecessary. We have hotkeys or most of the buttons but there are still missing buttons exist such as air conditioner, fog lights, interior lights etc.JaDaKa wrote: ↑04 May 2022 14:57 The thing with opening the hood etc would be a lot more time consuming to design. Anyone else having this issue with the SCS 389 where the left side of the headlights on the ground are cut off? Like a straight V cut? Here is a photo of what I mean https://i.imgur.com/dyYbqMY.png
