There's also Viper2's Peterbilt 389 rework, and there might be more. It's one of the more popular trucks in the modding community.

It doesn't look as bad to me, but I also don't pay them much attention irl lol.
To name a few: lack of an actual fifth wheel (not sure what that redneck contraption on the rear is meant to be), massive gaps between side skirts and rear wheels, sideskirts and front bumper sit too high, the hood length sits somewhere in between the 2 offered by Peterbilt, headlights have incorrect functionality (wrong placement of indicators, markers and lack of DRL) the sleeper cabs are, or rather should be the same as 389, yet they are not compatible, it only has 2 cabs (both sleepers are the same cab - same issue as in-game W900) and they both have incorrect dimensions, interior is atrocious, there's probably more, but I don't want to look at the truck :P

While all four of the Paccar models are dated, I still think the 579 is the worst of them all, and really brings out the OCD in me. The chassis is the ugliest part for me: it looks disproportionately narrow and the drive shaft & axles look pencil thin. I also agree with the other inaccuracies pointed out by Wolfi. Thankfully, the trailers obscure the 579 chassis in traffic.

Let's not forget the atrocious ride height on old trucks that is pretty much a signature from SCS... I have no idea what was up with them back then that they chose to have that ride height.

Obnoxious exhaust stacks on the back, rear axles are place way too close to each other, no options to remove the sideskirs, wrong/generic hood mirrors (also affect the T680), mirrors are too close to the cab in first person view, like Wolfi said: Interior looks awful, especially in the back (It looks like everything was made out of bathroom floor rubber mat), horrific bottom exhaust (It looks like something Honda civic ricers would buy at ebay and install in their cars thinking it will go 200mph+), absence of Ultra Loft cab, disproportional hood (it looks like it was stung by a bumblebee)... Should I keep going!?

389 is more accurate and usable than the 579, T680 and the VNL... Only reason people love to trash it, is because it is their favorite truck and they want to see in "CAD-Quality".

I don't know the truck models closely enough to see the faults.Even though I can't address faults in 579, I can involve the "579 roast" campaign because I want new gen 579 with TX.Rumours tell if folks roast a truck, SCS take the responsibility to bring new model :D

If that was anything near the truth we would have gotten the new VNL on ATS a long while ago and also New FH, Actros, S-Way, TGX on ETS2 as well. Which proves that SCS only goes after the trucks they think it's fitting or new releases oportunities that drop on their laps.

Clifflandmark: For me, it's a bit of both. IMO any OTR truck should feel like Cascadia or the LT. Anthem is good too. T680 and VNL are mid tier.

More chat about fixing the 389 or 579 the more we can stoke a fire under the rug.. I certainly support getting a proper reworked or just straight up new 389, 379 or 359.. All nice modeled correctly all the details make it perfect!

Viper's 389 is just a 379 with a 389 headlight option and various 389 parts. The hood and grille shroud on the 389 is a bit different than a 379 irl.
