Well, the previous generation and the NG 579 share the cabs and probably the chassis; don't quote me on that. So theoretically, they could re-use the new scanned parts and make the front end and side skirts from the previous generation if the possibility of getting rid of the 2016 model pops up. Also, if the time ever comes to say goodbye to the model from 2016, it would be cool to see all the bits missing from the 579 in-game.

They should've just got scans for the 567 or 367 as well, I am sure being the MAIN Pete house manufacture they had every model on sight..

I don't know where you got that from, SCS has not given any indications of doing something like that on either game (ETS2/ATS), that is as far as speculations go... When the new VNL get released and if SCS doesn't do anything with the old VNL we have in game, that will pretty much answer that question, for now, old trucks are staying as they are.

I'm just guessing. But it looks like the current old model will not be used for conversion into NextGen, in which case the new one will be much better than the old one, and it will look a little ridiculous... Given that it is practically the same truck and I think it would be logical to replace it too by quality model. Perhaps we will even get 2 in 1, as in the case of Renault T in ETS, and we will be able to assemble the old or NextGen on the basis of one truck.

As for the VNL, there seem to be somewhat more external differences between the old and the new.

We can agree that they will not use anything from the old trucks on the new ones, that is very obvious.

But about "looking a little ridiculous and being logical to replace the old one", go and tell that to the Man TGX in ETS2, the original one and the Euro 6 (EL2/EL3) are supposed to be the same exact truck, but despite the TGX Euro 6 being the better model, they didn't touch the old one, expect the same thing to happen with the NG 579, NG T680 and old VNL unless SCS says/proves otherwise.

And the old VNL and new VNL are in the same situation as the 579/T680, same exact cab design as the old one with a different front end and sideskirts.

The only way the "old" trucks are getting replaced is if SCs redid them from the ground up. The new 579 is very different than the old 579.

Why would you make the old one from scratch if you could reuse the chassis and cabs you just scanned (I forgot to add the just scanned part)? When it comes to the PACCAR twins and the VNL, the differences between the previous generation and the current one are in the looks of the front end (incl. the bonnet), sideskirts, aerobits and interior. For example, the interior of the NG T680 is not that different from the previous one; the old one even got the digital dash, so they're practically identical.

EDIT: What I tried to say is, re-use the newly scanned and modeled parts, like cabs, instead of using the old 2016 model we have in the game. Then make new models for parts like the front end, sideskirts, aerobits, and interior.

^The old stuff is not build from CAD references and its not very accurate at all if trying to build new trucks from CAD files. CAD references is what they use now as manufacturers are a lot more cooperative. Its a bad idea reusing anything from the first 5 trucks.

They definitely won't do it. SCS now only works with CAD. The SCS will also not remove or remake old tracks, everything will remain as it is.

If they ever decide to scrap the 2016 model and create a new one for the previous 579, they could use the cabs and chassis from the NG 579 because they're the same, then make the front-end, side skirts, and interior of the prev. generation.
It's the same with the T680 and VNL. The earlier and current generations of those trucks share the cabs, and in the case of the T680, even the interior.

Also, why wouldn't they get rid of the old models if the opportunity comes? "eVErythInG wiLL rEmAin aS Is " Hmm, okaay.
