Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
That stick is for engine brake not retarder.
Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
Are you sure your keybinds are for retarder not for engine brake on that profile?

Well American trucks don't have Euro-style retarders so I wouldn't expect that to be implemented. They never should have added retarders to ATS

Re: Volvo Trucks Discussion Thread
I recall somebody mentioning that the gearboxes with torque converters should have retarders but engine brake shouldn't work with them because TC's pump-turbine setup basically can't apply braking torque.
Other topic entirely: why does the viking-styled paintjob use plural form? Shouldn't it be "Einarr", as in "lone warrior"?

Like it somehow prefers my engine brake over the retarder when it comes to the stick moving. Really weird, can't figure out why that's happening.
Edit:
For clarification, this is the stick I'm talking about.
There is not such thing exist as retarder for VNL.

I daily drive a peterbilt 567 with a paccar engine and an Allison automatic. It has a torque converter and an engine brake. It works just fine.
Sorry for my english, I'm american.

I don't know anymore honestly LOL, but seeing as if the majority of the feedback says those trucks have no retarder, I've rebound my keys to primarily use the engine break toggle + increase and decrease.
Out of curiosity, why do certain transmissions come with a retarder? Not the biggest American truck know-it-all, so do wanna learn more! (Anyone can answer this question tbh, just wanna learn)oldmanclippy wrote: ↑01 Jun 2023 18:39 Well American trucks don't have Euro-style retarders so I wouldn't expect that to be implemented. TC10? That one's special, methinks, with converter locked all the time.TheOtherCorey wrote: ↑02 Jun 2023 03:31 I daily drive a peterbilt 567 with a paccar engine and an Allison automatic. It has a torque converter and an engine brake. It works just fine.

The Volvo VNX is a heavy-duty truck designed for demanding applications, known for its exceptional power, ruggedness, and off-road capabilities. On the other hand, the Volvo VNR is a versatile regional haul truck that excels in urban and regional distribution, offering fuel efficiency, maneuverability, and driver comfort for shorter routes.
